Lets Chat Today On My Dream Canvas

Its is getting really cold in my part of the world. Very soon, we shall see a lot less of sunshine. I am savoring it for now, as I know it shall not last long. In January, a few years ago, I recall it being cloudy and rainy for 21 days in a row. That same year we took the children to Hawaii to escape the dreary winter. We landed at night. The next morning when we opened the drapes, my kids could not stop blinking!! They had not seen the sun for so long that they were not used to it :) My younger one actually pointed towards the window and asked me what that was???

Therefore here are a few sunny corners from my home :) Now you can understand my obsession :)

Now back to the world of design and decor! I have a confession to make, I am bored of decorating/ changing the decor in my house. There I said it :) For now, I am content. This is NOT because my home is immaculate but because its comfortable. What I need to work on is not the "beauty" of the house. This is not about the curios, the paintings, the flowers, the candles but my messy drawers and overflowing wardrobes :) Yes, there are corners and corners that are a complete mess, not visible on My Dream Canvas :) However, while it bothers me, I have to be honest, the thought of all that clean up, organizing and sorting is not fun. The decorating part is so much more exciting:)

Do you feel like that too?? Are there others out there just like me?? How do you tackle this problem? I would love some suggestions and for you to share your ideas on the blog today!

So lets start chatting :)

All the time, Anu! On any given day, there are loads of messes in my home :) and I agree it is so much easier to put it off - but I will admit too, it nags my conscience, and I feel that niggling guilt until it is tended to. :) But that doesnt stop me from taking my own sweet time to get to it! love your sunny corners!

I'm often like that. I'm developing a hatred of the word "tweak" when it comes to decorating because there are blogs that are constantly --- and I mean on a weekly basis --- tweaking rooms or curio set-ups or color schemes. A number of months ago, I found myself thinking "What's wrong with leaving it once you've tweaked it?" "Can't you just live in it for a while?" So, I began to change the way I thought about decorating. I'd done it, I was happy with it, and I left it. Rest!

That being said, I had a child who left a local apt and moved; so my basement room inherited a lot of "stuff". This weekend, I worked on settling that "stuff" neatly in the back room and tidying down there. Seeing as I'd been permanently given back some of my smaller furniture pieces, I stuck to my rule and sold some cheaper pieces so I can fit the other into my room scheme again. But I promise! Once that's done, I rest once more.

When ever i had the same feelign with my home I used to blame it on me not being design/decor enthusiast (as I believe my self to be) or for not being talented enough. But ur confession makes me think may be its just natural human psychology, to feel satiety even with decor...esp when u have created a space u r happy in, enjoy its beauty n find nothing to complain about( atleast for a while) . Good for u! Plz dont be pressured by ur fans like me to change what u love for the sake of presenting us with images we love ;)

Sharon, I know I feel so guilty, like I am only dealing with the superficial stuff and not tackling the real issues (-:

Yes tweaking is such a common thing now that I wonder what is actually real :) Good luck with your basement!! Thanks for stopping by Sandy!

I am happy you brought this up Anu...we all like to showcase our good stuff but there are things to be tackled stuff to be taken out, in our part of the world dusted every so often it is actually painful. I must admit I have happily hidden all these corners and showcased the ones I have worked on in my home tour. Well such is life..we have so much sunshine here I wish I could ship some to you...
