Christmas Countdown..

Its the countdown to Christmas... only twelve more days to go. I just finished adding the last minute touches to my Christmas decor.
Silver, Gold, Red and Green are the colors of the day and I had a lot of fun with the decor this year. My son is thrilled with the tree and his excitement is infectious :-) It promises to be a white Christmas and that would make it absolutely perfect. For all of you out there here's wishing you a very Merry Christmas from our home to yours....
I used some pine cones from our trip to the mountains with some berries and a bright gold candle to get the perfect Christmas centerpiece.

Holidays Beckon..

Its that wonderful time of the year.....the special time called the holidays. The rain and the cold seem to bother me less when the twinkling lights beckon. Its the one time of the year that I am reminded of India with the crazy traffic and the endless shopping :-) A smile, a thought, a wish and happy faces welcoming Christmas and the New Year. Today I visited the happiest place on earth or at least it seemed like it when I saw the joy on my toddlers face. A few miles from home is Molbak's which has a fabulous display of all things Chrismassy..
So enjoy the view and hope you leave with a warm fuzzy feeling just like me :-)
An interesting display of reef themed christmas decorations. I love this little mermaid, the shiny blue ornaments and the gorgeous shells.....very unique.
Add the right amount of sparkle to any room with these silver and white christmas decor .
The red and gold hues add the right amount of sparkle and warmth.
An impressive display of animals from the Artics. My son wanted take them all home :-)
If you are in the Seattle area do visit Molbaks in Woodnville for all your Christmas shopping. They also have a beautiful nursery and a lovely collection of things for your home.

Holiday Decor

Twinkling lights, a blazing fireplace, unwrapped gifts, hot cocoa, family and friends. The Holidays are almost here in the States. The festive air is infectious and everyone is smiling. The shopping season begins and the Christmas decor in stores is mesmerising. I too am caught up in the magic of the season and these gorgeous arrangements from Restoration Hardware are hard to resist.

A New Look

Do you ever wake up in the morning and think its time for a change ?? Well, its hard to change your decor completely but a new look every few days certainly makes me happy. Every now and then I change the tablecloth and the centerpieces on my dining table. With Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner the stores are brimming with new ideas and lavish holiday decor ideas. I could not wait to hit the stores instead I tried to create a simple table arrangement to welcome the holidays.....

Sneha's Birthday

We recently celebrated my daughter's first birthday. I spent quite some time pondering over what colors to use for her party. I love yellow as I think its a happy color. For the decor I was inspired by fall and chose hues of orange, yellow, green and gold. I had the bakery make the cake with the same colors. I was very nervous about how it would look but I was really pleased.....
The balloons were personalised with her name and she had an amazing time playing with them :-) Her smile and the happy colors will make for lovely memories in the years ahead!

Halloween time..

Its grey, cold and wet in Seattle. However the vibrant fall colors on the trees and the orange in the pumpkin fields give me a warm glow. Its almost time for Halloween and my son's excitement is infectious. He is ready to march out in his costume and claim his treasure! The abundance of candy in my house after a night of trick or treat has quite an effect on my waistline :-) I love these gorgeous fall arrangements. I wish I too could fill my house with these orange, gold and brown hues. For now I can sit back and enjoy the view...

My Buddha

My brass Buddha head looked radiant on Diwali night with all the diyas around. I love the calm and serene expression and like to think that he watches over my home!

Diwali 2009

Diwali memories...
Images from my parents home in Gurgaon.
How I miss being in India and my parents home for Diwali. Diwali was always so special at home. Numerous parties, shopping, lights ,rangoli, new clothes and gift from parents! It was definately action packed. My mom cooked a lot of yummy food and the mithai supply was endless. Having my grandmother with us was an added bonus. I was the pampered daughter of the house who fussed about what clothes to wear :-) My part in the festivities was to decorate the house with lights and diyas. I loved to do all of that. I have very fond memories of all the Diwali's growing up at home.
