Sensational Monday:-)

A new week arrives.......hope you weekend was fun? Mine, was eventful to say the least, but we shall get to that later...
Today, lets talk about something sensational, shall we?? Unfortunately, its not something from the gossip columns of a tabloid, and yet its newsworthy in the design world :-) Have you ever seen, or heard of a tiled carpet?? I had not, and it did take me by surprise!!

This intricate and gorgeous Persian-style tile "carpet" was conceived  by William Handley, a designer for Malibu Pottery. Incidentally, this house at the time belonged to the owners of Malibu Pottery in California. The elaborate pattern, which includes more than 670 tiles, was created using cuerda seca glazing.

What do you think?? I think it looks grand.....and makes a statement!

Ferry boats and sunsets

It almost felt like Spring today! The sun was shining and the skies were blue...........remember this song:-) A glorious evening in the Pacific Northwest -Ferry boats, cool and crisp air, snow capped peaks and a glorious sunset!! I am signing off for now..............enjoy yourselves....and have a lovely...lovely weekend! I took these pictures on a drive this evening.

Plum Chutney by Anita Mackenzie

From the instant I saw the products by Plum Chutney I have been captivated. I wrote to the founder Anita Mackenzie, and today I am delighted to feature Plum Chutney on My Dream Canvas. Their eye catching products are unique, fun and make a statement. Plum Chutney is an online home store based out of Britain.

I will say no more..... as I give you Plum Chutney in Anita's own words!

"I was born in India, grew up and studied there and most of my early career as a marketing and brand professional was based there. I absolutely love the 70mm, quirky, chaotic side to India but since moving to the UK in 2005 if anything this passion for all things Indian has increased. Living in Britain has also been a fantastic exploration of India's colonial past but from the "Other side" as it were. For me, one of the biggest discoveries was how the online space was slowly becoming all about innovative design by creative, independent, designer makers. So much that was new and cutting edge was being unveiled online rather than in big high street stores. Combine this with the fact that Britain has had a long standing and enduring fascination for all things Indian.....in my gut I knew I had stumbled upon an interesting opportunity.
All the images I had grown up loving...... rickshaws, colourful trucks, striking people and costumes, street scenes, maharajahs, autos, ambassadors - all of it had the potential to drive original design for stylish accessories for the home. With that basic inspiration and loads of help from my sister who has her own designer furniture business in India, Plum Chutney was born. Plum Chutney is a very personal attempt to showcase my love for all things Indian. All this while paying homage to the graphic and quirky approach to design so well developed in Britain. I have worked with multiple designers to develop various collections. I also source from Indian designers/companies that have a complementary design philosophy."

Thank you Anita! In my opinion Plum Chutney is a lovely fusion of east meets west. Its just what you need to add that bit of panache into your living space :-)

Come away with Me......

Bright colors, whitewashed walls, lanterns, baskets, colorful accents....yes, I know I am drooling :-) We are visiting a restored farmhouse in Malaga in Spain today. I spent two weeks in Spain one summer and I remember we flew into Malaga! These images don't help..............I so want to go back :-) Do spend some time and notice all the accents in this home. They are lovely!! My favorite is the last image of the bathroom.........it's simply fabulous!! So, tell me which is your favorite room in this house??
