Thank you On Mothers Day!

Its a gorgeous weekend here in the Pacific Northwest.  The perfect Mothers Day weekend. The sun is shining, the skies are blue and the snow capped peaks are gleaming in the distance. Today was the ideal day to pull out the camera and create some vignettes that are apt for Mother's Day!

The perfect pink roses, Lindt chocolates and pretty cups of tea........ all seem to sparkle as the light streamed into my home :)  My Mom is my lifeline and this post is to thank her for everything she does!

I want to also thank all the lovely mom's out there for all that you do! Here's wishing all my readers a Happy Mothers Day !

Keep on smiling today and always............

Happy March and MDC Turns Five!!

Hello there! It is March already and my favorite time of the year. At my Casa we get to celebrate two birthdays this month :)  My Dream Canvas turns 5 this month and I get to celebrate my birthday as well :) I have a list of fun stuff lined up for this month including a Giveaway!!!

My Dream Canvas is a dream come true for me and thank you each and every one of you for sharing this dream with me!! The image below is my favorite photograph. I take a gazillion pictures almost everyday but this one tops my list. I took this picture on a rainy day at the water temple in Bali. The sketch effect of course is by the very addictive Waterlogue app. I have this photograph framed and hung above my fireplace at home :)

Here's to a new week and exciting times on My Dream Canvas!

My Dream Canvas Wall At Home

Over the years this blog has become such an integral part of me that I cannot do with out it. My passion for photography combined with my love for My Dream Canvas got me thinking.  I was not happy just switching on my laptop to blog! This got me thinking.......I wanted something in my home that was my little "MDC" corner :) I decided to create a wall in my family room with my favorite images from My Dream Canvas. These are all photographs taken by me during my travels and some are vignettes from of my home. Now for the best part.....I don't spend a ton of money on these prints. I get them printed at Costco and they are very inexpensive! I get to change the prints as often as I like. I usually change them every few months. It also very effectively changes the decor and look of this room.

You might think I am self obsessed!! I am guilty as charged :) My obsession though is not with myself but "My Dream Canvas". My blog gives me a reason to smile everyday. I am so grateful for this outlet. I feel honored that so many of you have been a part of this journey with me!

So what do you think of my idea of a "Dream Canvas" wall ?

This is a crusty old lantern which caught my eye in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I love the blue :)

The wall in its entirety. I shall share more pictures soon!

I took this picture in December at Humayun's tomb in Delhi, India.

Fiery Hues Come Close To Home

I am as passionate about photography as I am about home decor, if not more. I am not brilliant at it, but I love taking pictures. My camera is almost always with me as is my handbag :) These days I sit in my car and drive around trying to take pictures of the fall foliage around my neighborhood. Autumn has become my favorite time of the year. When I drive out of my house its like driving into a painting. The fiery hues beckon and I go crazy with my camera. My family is amused to say the least. I am sure the cars that pass me wonder who the crazy woman is standing in the middle of the road :)

Everyone needs a hobby and mine these days is chasing these colorful hues!!

Have a great week my lovely readers and see you around! I took these images on two different days, one day was sunny and the next day it was cloudy and dull.

Friday Musings and Cherry Blossoms

I am popping in to wish you a Happy Friday!  Here is a picture I took of a cherry blossom tree close to home. The cherry blossom trees put up a spectacular show every year and amaze me with their beauty. I think what makes it even more magical is that they are around for such a short while. I am always running around trying to capture their beauty before they fade away for another year:) Yes, I am crazy that way!

Keep on smiling and see you around :)

Come Fly With Me (Turkey)

I have been enamoured by the interiors of Nisanyan Hotel for a while now. "Come Fly with Me" to Turkey to rediscover this marvelous place. I have featured this property before on MDC and you can click here to read about it. As you can clearly see my fascination for this place continues.

It is the delightful photographs by Pauline Joosten that captures the real essence of this beautiful place. I have said this before........my first impression on discovering Nisanyan House was one of happiness. This place gives me the feeling that you are entering some one's well loved home. It has a laid back old world charm that compels you to leave your worries behind.

The furniture around this place actually reminds me of my grandmother's home.  I am very drawn to this place:) I hope you had fun visiting this lovely hotel set in a remote rural village in Turkey.

Have a beautiful day!

Photography by Christopher Baker

How are you doing today? I am mesmerised by this image and the photography of Christopher Baker.

To quote him " The subjects in my best photographs have the feeling of existing in a perfect state. You deeply understand it but what “it” is remains elusive. The image compels the viewer to consider a larger, unseen reality not based in logic."

Sigh............need I say more :)  Tell me, what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you see this image???

Happy Flowers

Hello everyone, and hello to the New Week! The weekend was busy and passed by very quickly. However, we had some good moments, so I guess I should not complain.

We made our annual visit to the Skagit Valley Tulip festival. The drive takes about an hour and a half. It is such a delight to come across fields of Tulips in a myriad of colors. A truly spectacular sight. Every year we think that we saw it last year so there really is no need to go again......... and yet somehow we are drawn to it over and over again:)

I came back home with Tulips of course:) Today, a friend dropped by lunch with a few more bouquets of Tulips. Now, my home has these pretty flowers just about everywhere. I think it is a good way to start the week, I call them my happy flowers:)

Here's wishing you a great week. I have an amazing house to show you......so stay tuned:)

I took numerous pictures of this charming barn.................

A Beautiful Day

Every once in a while you witness a day that is simply unbelievable. A beautiful day that ended with a spectacular sunset. My pictures do little justice to the gorgeous display of beauty by Mother Nature. However,  I happily kept clicking away. These are just a few pictures of the eighty plus images I have to sort through. I took them all this evening :-)

A lovely day and that too at the beginning of the week, definitely helps shake off those Monday blues :-)

Home and My Mountain

Yay! We hit 70 degrees today. It finally feels like summer!! I know this does not make a lot of sense............. but trust me, you have to live in and around Seattle to know what this means :-) The city is coming alive, and the dark ominous clouds have given way to endless blue skies. I am aware that this may not last long, but today I am euphoric!!

The kids are hopefully on the mend. Next week promises to be super exciting!! More on that later :-) Here are a few snapshots from home. My home and I both feel happier bathed in sunlight :-)

The kids have been stuck at home the past few days and have been dying to go out. As a result, I too have been suffering from cabin fever :-) We bundled up the kids and drove up to see the sun setting over "my mountain". There is nothing as spectacular as clear views of the snow clad volcanic Mt Rainier. It always takes my breath away....................

Fields of beauty....

It's Wednesday and sunny in my part of the world. I am dying to go out and forget all the work and errands for the day. I wish!!!! Remember the Tulip festival we drove to a few a few weeks ago? Today seemed like the perfect day to share the pictures with you. I like to live vicariously through My Dream Canvas - sharing bits of beauty and reliving lovely memories!!!

These are my endless fields of beauty :-)

My daughter getting a bit lost........... surrounded by all the flowers:-)

Hues of purple, shades of lavender and bold reds......

I love the lone warrior.......the yellow amongst the reds!

I could go on and on.................I just love Tulips :-)

Mt Baker is a snow capped Volcano and its peeking through to admire the Tulips.
