A Charming Home in The Heart of Delhi

There are some homes where the pictures say it all. This home is certainly one of them. I first mentioned this house in a post two years ago. The home belongs to Nishi Bahadur and her family They are family friends and have known my parents for decades! "Nishi mami" as I call her, is an elegant and charming lady and her home reflects her personality!

The layout of the house to me is reminiscent of  an old "haveli". It is hard to imagine that  this oasis is in the middle of South Delhi. I was floored by the architecture especially the "aangan" (verandah) that the living room opens out to. My mom has told me how stunning the place looks when they host a Diwali party and the room is filled with twinkling candles! Sigh...

This is a house filled with family heirlooms. Curios, paintings and one of a kind artifacts  add elegance and warmth to the space! Every corner looks classy and radiates with old world charm!

Step into this home and prepare to be mesmerized just the way I was! Thank you Nishi mami for sharing your home with my readers :)

Here are just a few pictures I took of the home two years ago. It was evening, so I could only manage a few!

Enjoy....

My favorite part of the house, the lovely  aangan"

Poufs in Decor

Are you a big fan of Poufs? Honestly, I have always had mixed feelings about it! I am never sure how they would look or how comfortable they are! Recently, I had to spend quite a bit of time hunting down poufs for a design project. My clients have a lovely lakefront home and their living room has lovely French windows. Poufs seemed to be a good option for the space. The pouf would not block the view and also provide additional seating. I have to admit, I quite enjoyed the process of hunting down poufs and ottomans for the project. We still have not found the perfect one... but it has certainly made me see Poufs in a new light:)

These images of a fellow blogger's home has made me fall in love with poufs. She has done a wonderful job of decorating her small space! I had to share it with you as it is the perfect inspiration for a boho chic space. These kilim poufs make quite a statement, don't you think?

So what are your views on Poufs?

Gratitude From Me To You

Happy Friday folks! I just realized that its been two years since The Shop At My Dream Canvas  officially came online :) We began this journey on 10th February 2014. It has been an incredible two years.

To be honest, I had no idea how long I would do this! All I had, was a simple idea to curate, and bring together one of a kind home accessories for my readers! I have to admit that I had no solid business plan. Every item was handpicked by me and my mom who managed everything from India. The idea behind the store was to only pick items that I could see in my own home. A collection that was both personal and sentimental :) Today, we have come a long way. I now have regular shipments coming from India. We have also branched into antiques and flea market finds both locally and from my travels. Thankfully, this new direction has also been a huge success. I have only YOU to thank for that :) You have made this journey both meaningful and beautiful!

I am thrilled when you make The Shop At My Dream Canvas a small part of your lovely home! My dream is to have an actual storefront someday. Its always wonderful to plan and dream...don't you think?

Thank you and have a great weekend!

A Curated Collection

Good Morning! I like to get extremely personal in my decor! Do you? Let's start a conversation about it today! I have said this numerous times.  I’m a sucker for sentiment :)  A beautiful home is more than a collection of well-chosen furnishings and home accessories. It’s a tribute to who you are and what you hold dear! It's a space filled with the curated objects that tell the story of your life.

Sometimes, my readers ask me, if it’s alright to mix up different styles. For example, can an antique chest really blend in a contemporary setting? The answer from me, is an emphatic yes! My favorite rooms are filled with an eclectic assortment of different pieces that look as they’ve evolved over time. The pieces that you purchase today might just be the treasured heirlooms for your future generations :) Silver, china, and crystal are the quintessential heirlooms. Remember, even if you don’t have china, silver, or crystal that have been in your family for generations, there are ways to collect  them! MDC's antique and vintage store finds might just be the answer that you have been looking for:)

My quest and vision for the Antique Collection at The Shop At My Dream Canvas is to carefully curate a collection of "one of a kind" treasures. These items are objects and artifacts that can fit any decor.  They remain timeless in their beauty! Decorating your home with vintage finds can be extremely rewarding. It can give a home lots of character and beauty!

My style is the amalgamation of the old and the new and I love it :) You can mix vintage finds with your very own signature style! What do you think? I would love to hear from you?

Here are a few of my latest finds. Have I piqued your curiosity? Do browse the store to find more treasures:)

Here's wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
