Romance and Gelato in Amalfi....

Romance and Gelato in Amalfi....
The Amalfi coast in Italy holds a special place in my heart. I spent a two week holiday in Italy a few years ago. The bus ride from Sorrento along the Amalfi coast was the highlight of my trip. The beauty of the Amalfi coastline is extraordinary. The coast is dotted with lovely mediterranean style white-washed fishing villages. The road to Amalfi has been carved into steep rugged mountain cliffs that drops dramatically into the Mediterranean sea. The bus takes you along the edge of the cliffs and the vista below is stunning. Picturesque villas, lovely hotels and ancient churches have been built into the steep mountainside. They seem to hang precariously looking down at the water below. The turqouise blue of the sea mixed in with the lemon trees, grape vines, and colourful flowers give this place a magical touch. Amalfi is a quaint little seaside village. This town, situated between the mountains and sloping down towards the sea is extremely charming. The narrow cobbled streets are lined with shops and cafes. It is a very Italian atmosphere. I had the best gelato in the world in the town's main square. I am a romantic at heart and for me there is no place like Amalfi. I look back fondly at the day I spent here. It is one of my most cherished travel memories.
