Fall Magic

Summer is slowly fading away and its almost time for fall. These pictures taken last year of my backyard are a reminder of this magical time of the year. I look forward to dressing up the kids for Halloween and the festivities at Diwali especially since its my daughter's first! The crisp autumn air and the leaves..yellow,red and orange fluttering to the ground. Fall beckons....

This is my favourite picture. Its taken in New Brunswick and the fall foliage here is notable for its vivacious reds.

The Olympics

My weekend road trip to the Olympic National Park in Washington was a truly unique experience. At every turn we were welcomed with spectacular vistas. The park includes snow peaked mountains, glacier fed lakes, bubbling hot springs, rugged pacific beaches and rain forests. It might take an entire lifetime to conquer this remote area and I am definitely heading back someday. A stroll along the rocky, log strewn shoreline to see the dramatic sea stacks and rock formations was a photographers dream. Here are a few pictures to remind me of this incredible holiday.

Romance in Maldives

A Room with at View at Cocoa Island Maldives.
These stunning pictures recently caught my attention and I was totally mesmerised. Maldives is now on my list of dream vacations ! These beautiful boats are called "Dhonis" in Maldives. Most of Cocoa Island’s rooms are uniquely inspired by these boats, the style of vessel used by local fishermen. The boat shaped suites and villas are adjoined by simple wooden walkways built above the shallow lagoon. The view from the wide platform bed is directly out to the watery expanse. The bathrooms, a bath and shower, share the horizon views. I simply love the interiors which are contemporary and yet have a touch of local rusticity. So feast your eyes and dream on...

Summer Living..

A few of my favourite pieces... A few stunning candle holders caught my eye recently. They can liven up any room and give it a new look instantly. I love their simplicity and elegance. Seattle is wet and grey most of the year. However the short summer is worth living for. These pieces for some reason remind me of those bright and sunny days. I would love to bring this feeling of summer into my home year round :-) Images Courtesy : Pottery Barn

Sleepless in Seattle

Sleepless in Seattle... I can actually relate to the movie :-). Sleep evades me though unlike the movie I am not on the phone but blogging away at 1.30 am ! My recent trip to India was hardly a shopping frenzy but I did end my search for the perfect Buddha head! Buddha's and Ganesha statues are an integral part of my home. Here is a picture of my latest acquisition which is now the focal point in my living room. I am in the mood to redecorate and it will take a while however it promises to be a lot of fun. Maybe a bold paint color for the wall..the ideas are just spinning in my head. I should probably save these thoughts for tomorrow and actually get some sleep tonight!

Summer Dreams....

Summer Dreams.... Summer is here and I am definitely in holiday mode. I have just returned from one but I crave many more. My idea of bliss is definitely being near the ocean. Over the years my trips to Mexico, Caribbean , Thailand , Australia and Hawaii have all been wonderful. I could spend a lifetime watching every sunrise and sunset over the ocean waters. I am now on a quest to discover some picture perfect and idyllic locales to enjoy the oceans majestic beauty . Here are some breathtaking images from a resort on Kangaroo island in Oz. The beauty of nature combined with the simplicity and sheer luxury of the Southern Ocean Lodge is truly inspiring and captivating. Floating atop a secluded cliff on a rugged stretch of coast, the lodge commands peerless views of the wild Southern Ocean and pristine Kangaroo Island wilderness.

Back in Seattle

I have not been blogging since mid June and hope to remedy that from now on. The trip to India and the short holiday in Hongkong was fun. Now I am back in Seattle with my 9 month old baby girl and a 4 year old son. My full time job of being their mom is fun, demanding and challenging :-) I am trying to take some time out to pursue my other interests. Blogging is definately fun and theraputic and I have promised myself today to be more regular . So here's to happy thoughts and new ideas!
