Good Morning All! Its a new week and an exciting one at My Dream Canvas. I am sharing a quote I recently read, " Travelling is something that leaves you speechless and turns you into a storyteller."
Fall has come to my neck of the woods. Sunday was a picture perfect Autumn day and we drove up into the mountains. We reached in the afternoon and the sun was shining on the mountainside. The light made everything look magical as it shone on the huckleberries. The crimson hues against the backdrop of the evergreen trees made it all so dramatic!
These quick trips away from the realities of everyday life always recharges me!
I am thrilled with the response to the Festive Collection at my online store. I am also working on an "MDC Antique Bazaar" and will share the details with you shortly. I can promise that it will be interesting and exciting!!
Have a good week and keep on smiling :)

It has been a while since I featured a home on My Dream Canvas. My favorite part about blogging is showcasing homes from around the world:) It is such a privilege to peek inside a gorgeous home. Today, we are travelling to Cornwall, in England to visit the home of a fellow blogger Sia Krishna.
Take it away Sia.....
" I was born and brought up in a beautiful small town close to the coastal city of Mangalore in Southern India. A town famous for its virgin beaches, red tiled houses and gentle backwaters. I hold degrees in engineering and management. However, my true passion is writing, photography, making and churning memories of food which are showcased in my food blog Monsoon Spice!
I currently live in a picturesque seaside town in Cornwall in Britain with my husband and a 5 year old son. My son takes away most of my time, energy and heart:) Little over 4 months ago, we moved to our current home in Cornwall after a year long stint in India. When it comes to home décor, I don’t follow any particular theme. I stick to a simple and warm décor with a splashes of colors characteristic to Indian homes. Our home is eclectic, with art and knick knacks collected over years through travels rubbing shoulders with my love for ethnic artefact's and antique family heirlooms".
Here are a few vignettes from Sia's home! Traditional and elegant are the words that come to my mind as I feast my eyes on these images. Looking at the corners of her home makes me greedy for more! Someday, I shall ask Sia for a complete home tour of her pretty nest:) What do you think? Please leave your comments here for Sia to read and to respond!
Thanks Sia for sharing your home with the readers of My Dream Canvas. Its been an absolute pleasure:)
Sia is a food blogger and her blog is a visual delight. Do bookmark Monsoon Spice for her fabulous recipes and awesome photography!

Good Morning all! I am inviting you to a picnic to shake off the Monday blues:) Are you fond of picnics? I am, but it seems like years since I organized or attended a picnic. Growing up as an army brat, picnics were a part of our lifestyle. I have fond memories of picnics on top of mountains, by a lake, under a tree and just about everywhere :) Ah! The simple pleasure of life! The prep work for the picnic was even more exciting! Off late, one of my favorite memories of a picnic was in Georgia a few years ago. We were on a road trip with my parents. My son was a few months old. We stopped along the road and pulled out a few chairs. The place was beautiful as it was surrounded by wildflowers. As I look back to that day, I recall fondly that I was there with my favorite people in the world. My baby was cooing away, and the food made by my mom was utterly delicious.... it was idyllic:)
Here are some images of a picnic that recently caught my eye! I would love to style and decorate a picnic!! Sigh! The possibilities are endless......
Do you have a fond memory of a picnic....... I would love to know??

I also have family visiting so its been busy! Fall is in the air..... rust, yellows and orange hues are slowly appearing outside my window. I like to bring these shades into my decor as well. Little changes to welcome Autumn :)
This image kind of sets the mood for Fall don't you think? What is your favorite time of the year?

Its been a slow start to the work week as Monday was a holiday for us here in the States. I begin this week with a Fabulous Find. My love for books and pillows have come together with this exquisite pillow I spotted on TheGentlePorcupine. This store is about a couple based in Netherlands looking to share their love for books and nature.
While this books pillow featured below is my absolute favorite, the other pillows and tote bags are really pretty too.
Have fun browsing their store!

I recently spotted designer Kim Salmela's home on One Kings Lane. While, I like the look of her home, its her words and her design mantra that struck me the most.
I am quoting her words as they truly resonate with me. Her thoughts and her attitude to design is something I can completely relate to. In her words." Masculine next to feminine. Inexpensive next to expensive. Contrast creates the best design and highlights the beauty of each piece. If everything is all one style, you look around the room and nothing stands out."
Another one " “Life is short. Honestly. You should just walk into your home and be happy. There are no rules. That’s the rule.”
I could not agree more! My Family room has emerged into a space that has no rules..... ...conforms to no one style, and has no boundaries. It is truly my canvas :) I dip my hands into bucket loads of paint and smear it all around. It is my very own lively mess, that welcomes me home and makes me smile:)
I highly recommend a no rule design style. See were it takes you :)
What is your one design mantra you live by?
