Fabulous Find Friday Mia Nicole Design Co.

I am back after a long hiatus but hey its a fresh start, and there is lots heading your way :) So before I introduce the Fabulous Find of the week, I have to tell you a little story.

I have been married for 19 years and yet I never know what gift to get my husband. Be it birthdays or our anniversary, its a constant struggle to find something for him. The guy is exasperating!! He has no strong likes or dislikes. He is not into clothes, cars or gadgets. The one thing that brings joy to his life is Travel. He loves to go on vacations and therefore is forever planning our trips :) I should not be complaining.... but seriously he is obsessed about exploring the world. As a result, he works and plans vacations and has little time for anything else :) You cannot even imagine what a long, and neglected list I have on the home front. It  simply never gets done :)

We are also budget conscious travelers so that requires even more research and hard work ! For my anniversary this year in August,  I got him this delightful adventure fund box. I  had it personalized and it looks amazing. For those of you, who might say, that that piggy banks are for kids, have not seen my hubby dear grinning ear to ear when he opened his gift.  He absolutely loves it :) We have found a nice spot for it in our family room. As of now, we are filling it up with currencies from around the world :)

For me, our decor style is very personal. Over the years our home has become a canvas to showcase our personalities. My family room is a collage of things we love and the memories we cherish and this box fits in perfectly. Thank you Mia for creating this for us.

Here's introducing Mia Nicole Design Co in her own words

I started Mia Nicole Design Co. , a hand lettering business, as a creative outlet after I quit my full-time graphic design job to stay home with my kids about 3 years ago. Creating is a necessary part of my life. So when I had the opportunity to stay home with my kids and continue to use my artistic/graphic design skills, I couldn’t resist! My business has evolved quite a bit from the beginning but the thing that remains the same is my passion for creating unique one-of-a-kind gifts. It makes me so happy when a customer tells me how their loved one was moved and so thrilled by the gift they received. It is so incredible to be a part of something that brings joy to others and will be a keepsake for years to come"

For those of you who are local to the  Greater Seattle area, you can find her at the Great Junk Hunt in Monroe from November 1-3. Mia also ships her products, so you can connect with her via Etsy or Instagram and Facebook.

Here are images of a few images from her collection.

I adore these  cute globe ornaments :)

Fabulous Finds: Rapsodia

Hello there! My apologies for my long absences from the blog! Life seems to be getting busier with an 11 year old and an 8 year old! The Shop At MDC keeps me on my toes..... as I scout around for treasures for your lovely homes!  The sun sets at 4.15 pm in winter in my part of the world and somehow the days seems way too short to get everything done!! However, please do follow me on Instagram as I seem to be posting there almost on a daily basis :)

Its cold, dark and dreary here today and we have snow in the forecast. I am sitting by the fireplace in my family room and looking at some lovely images on Pinterest! These stunning images from the Argentinian e-store Rapsodia caught my attention.

The store has a lovely curated collection of unique clothing, accessories and home decor items that you simply cannot miss! Bookmark Rapsodia for some delightful things and lovely eye candy :)

Keep on smiling and see you around!

Fabulous Finds " Bangdar Sarali"

I am delighted to feature "Bangdar Sarali"  based in New Delhi, India as this week Fabulous Find on My Dream Canvas! This venture has been started by two friends who quit their regular jobs to pursue their passion. Together they have embarked on a journey to create exclusive Experimental Fused Glass Jewelry - "Art that can be worn"

Bangdar Sarali endeavors to marry ancient European glass art techniques ( like Murano) with Indian motifs to create contemporary jewelry that is a true fusion of the two cultures. The vibrancy of colors and fluidity of shapes of fused glass art come alive in contemporary handcrafted designs, which are elegant and wearable. These distinctive accessories are truly unique by virtue of the technique of fusion used to create the pieces, which makes it impossible to recreate a design that is identical.

The two creators of Bangdar Sarali are Ikroop Dhillon, the fused glass artist and Pooja Roy Yadav, the jewelry designer.

Connect with them on Facebook and visit their Website for more information!

Happy Shopping!

Fabulous Finds : A Literary Book Shelf Cum Storage Box :)

I am a big fan of HomeGoods. I usually stumble upon something every few years which I absolutely adore! My Suzani chair was a HomeGoods find as well. This storage box gives you the illusion of leather bound books lined on a book shelf!! Each and every book mentioned here is a classic. I have read them all :) Gone With The Wind of course is an all time favorite :)

The box can be opened and has storage space inside. I bought it for my anniversary and told my husband it was a gift from him. Smart eh? :)

Have you discovered an unexpected treasure for your home recently. I would love to know? Here's wishing you a great weekend!

Fabulous Finds" Villa Valentina" A Unique Shopping Experience

The beaches in Mexico were fun, the sun healing, the landscape dramatic and Villa Valentina just happened to add to the magic :) I stumbled upon this unique store as we were leaving San Jose for Cabo. Something inside me told me to stop as we drove past it. Thankfully, we turned the car around as this place turned out to be absolutely fascinating.

Have you ever entered a space where you want to get lost wandering?? Well this was one such place. Villa Valentina " is a beautiful art and design center housed in a Mission-like building". For me me it was so much more, I loved everything about this place. It appealed to my design sensibilities completely. It had a casual yet refined air. There was an endless treasure trove of goodies tucked away in every nook and cranny. There were exquisite things placed effortlessly just poised to catch your eye! It reminded me of a haveli with an old world charm. To think I was in Mexico and yet it felt like I could have been in Rajasthan :)

Haciendas or Haveli.....what can I say, I have a weakness for both :) Villa Valentine apart for being a lovely shopping experience, houses a restaurant, an art gallery and features art classes as well. Need I say more ?

Have fun looking, I certainly did :) Have you had a unique shopping experience that has stayed with you forever, I would love to know? Do share your story in the comments section below. As people join in I am sure we can come up with some interesting stories :)
