Happy Monday and My Trip To The Wine Country!

Hello there! Hope you have missed me, because I sure have :) I got back last night after a four day vacation to Washington's Wine Country.  Seattle lies west of a mountain range called the Cascades. To reach the wine country, we had to cross over the Cascades to get to the Eastern corner of the state.

Eastern Washington's climate and the geography is completely different from where we are. This region is arid and lies in a rain shadow. The wine country drive was spectacular, with rolling hills dotted with vineyards. While we did enjoy the wine and the picturesque vineyards, what made it special was that we went there with my parents :)

It was a fun, old fashioned road trip, the kind that makes me smile whenever I think about it :)

A detailed post with pictures from my trip will be up on the blog soon. On that happy note, here's wishing you a great week ahead. I also have an exciting Giveaway coming up tomorrow for all of you. I promise you will love it :)

Stay tuned..............

A Splash of Aqua Here and There!

The MDC casa is showing off splashes of Aqua here and there :) Its my favorite color especially in summer. I have little knick-knacks in this color all over my home. The pretty tea light holder was a gift from my favorite cousin! A few plants here and there, and I am all set for summer. However, at the moment we seem to be going through a cold wave :)

My parents arrived a few days ago. This time is so special. I love watching my kids interact with them. Getting spoilt and pampered is the theme for the next few months. Its not just the kids but Mr MDC and I, are both enjoying the benefits :) Its a time for endless chit-chats, love, laughter, summer drives and creating memories!

Here's wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

A Beautifully Restored Home in Ibiza

My love affair with Spain continues:) Today I am taking you to the home of a British art and jewelry designer in Ibiza, Span.

Read on to know about the fascinating journey of this home! The present owner found this crumbling ruin in the lanes of the old city and decided to convert it into a summer home! Sigh! One of the major challenges faced during the restoration of the building was to save the old courtyards and terraces. The home is a tribute to the owner's love for gardening and the eclectic spirit of Ibiza. The stunning artifacts and gorgeous textiles from the owners many travels look perfect against the white washed walls.

Oh! I could happily get lost in this house and not want to leave :) To view pictures of the entire house, click HERE!

Dreamy Bedroom

Its been sizzling in my part of the world! The temperatures are soaring.I have to admit that in this part of the Pacific Northwest we are a bit fragile:) Anything over 80F is considered way too hot :) Homes in this area are not geared up for a heat wave. Most homes don't have air conditioning and just about everyone is complaining !! The weather Gods have promised us cooler temperatures by the end of the week!  I can hardly wait!
This bedroom has such a dreamy feel to it. I spotted it on Pinterest and had to share it with you !

Hope you are having a good week?

Visual Clutter in Homes and A Question?

Today I have a simple question for all my blogger friends, lovely readers and fellow decor enthusiasts :) In your decorating journey do you ever succumb to visual clutter? Let me explain this further! I am not talking about excess stuff in the home, junk etc....that's a whole other story :) I am referring to "decorating in excess"......where your home is filled to the brim with curios, artifacts, patterns and colors!

While patterns and colors can be energizing and creative, too much of it hurts my eye. By this, I don't mean that one should be minimalistic or use soothing color palettes. For me it means striking the right balance when you chose patterns and colors for your space. I need to feel rested when I walk into my home! Too many patterns just exhaust me and my eyes :)

While everyone has a different personal style, I  want to know how do you reduce visual clutter in your home? Some magazines and blogs showcase rooms where the space looks fabulous! ! However when you look closely, can you see yourself relaxing in that space? Beautiful throws and fabrics in myriad patterns adorn every piece of furniture, its dreamy alright but is it practical and calming?

I for one, am constantly trying to achieve the right balance. The desire to create a calm and peaceful home is the driving force behind my decorating style! I am not sure if I am there yet, but for now I am happy the way things are :)

Can you achieve both? A home filled with things you love, and and a visually calming and peaceful home? I would love to hear your take on this? Everyone's decorating rules are different, and I am not talking about attaining perfection either. However, exchanging ideas and thoughts is fun, don't you think?

Spotlight : A Peacock Bench

Its not that I am extremely fond of the peacock motif but somehow this bench above caught my eye. I think its more to do with the design and style. I noticed it immediately. Makes a statement don't you think?
Starting this week, I will do a post once a week titled "Spotlight", This is where I will feature any one product that I find interesting for that week :) This will be different from the "Fabulous Finds" series which is more about discovering a collection of things, stores etc that appeal to me!

Stay tuned!

Outdoor Living In Majorca

The owners of this property in Majorca feel that they live in a holiday home the year round :) I would not disagree as this looks like an ideal summer getaway! Though for the owners this is not a getaway but their permanent home. This home is surrounded  by olive, lavender and cypress trees and bougainvilleas embrace the walls. I am completely swept away by the beauty of this home.

While I enjoy many decor blogs/magazines El Mueble is the closest to my heart. The Spanish homes they feature have something that completely resonates with me! Most of the homes featured have the right balance of charm, sophistication and warmth that makes a home complete!

You can view the entire home HERE and enjoy a break from reality :)

Hello there! Thank you all for your lovely comments about my my home featured on Jaypore. The MDC Facebook page and my inbox is filled with likes and comments and that surely made my day:) I am really touched by the article and the lovely words used to describe my home!

As we head into the new week  there is lots in store for you. July promises to be an exciting month! Today, I bring you a few images of a short road trip we took on Sunday. While I enjoy design and decor, I love travelling, the outdoors and road trips even more. Nothing pleases me more than to head out with my family. The Pacific Northwest is stunning and these places are a short two hour drive from home. Makes for a good short escape from reality :)

Blue skies, mountains, a glacier fed lake and winding country roads made for an incredible day!

Here's wishing you a great week ahead!

Personalize Your Home with Some Fun Ideas :)

As you know already, I take thousands of pictures :) Lately, I have been incorporating a few of the photographs I take into my decor! I have created a collage from photographs of lanterns that I took in Mexico for my family room. Two weeks ago I decided to make a pillow using my images :) It was a  fun project. I selected a few photographs from my home and made it look like this using the Waterlogue app. I then used the images on a pillow. I was not so sure about the "love sign" but now when I look at it on my couch, I quite like it ! Its fun, quirky and personal :)

What do you think? Have you got any interesting ideas on how to personalize your home in a fun way? Do share your thoughts!

A closer look at the pillow :)
