Macrame and a Colorful Abode in Madrid

This colorful apartment in Madrid swept me away! The pops of color and the eclectic vibe, whats not to love about it :) This is the home of Sara Moreno who weaves her magic and creates the most beautiful macrame products.

Her brand is called Fruto Samore. Its a collection of her signature and handmade macrame items. From Blankets, Tapestries, Pillows, Poufs, Baskets and planters, Sara creates them all. The name of the brand means " my fruit, the fruit of Samore, a word formed by the first syllables of her name and last name ” Sara loves the world of DIY's.

Every corner of her home reveals her passion and that of her husband. From the loom and macrame pieces and their love for natural plants  to travel....their favorite hobby. Their recent travels took them to Japan and the Maldives, and their next family vacation is to Indonesia. The couple loves backpacking and always try to integrate into the local culture.

For her home, Sara looks for simple and creative decorative solutions. Her ideas bear a handmade stamp. By doing so, she believes that her decor will be personal and unrepeatable.

What a lovely thought, don't you think ?

Goodbye Summer Hello Autumn

This year is passing by at an alarming rate..... don't you think? I had a busy summer and we ended it with a lovely vacation. We travelled to Croatia via Paris and spent a very interesting day in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We flew back via Brussels and spent a day eating waffles and macaroons :) I have a series of posts lined up about my travels. There is  a hint of Fall in the air......the light seems to have changed. Although, I will miss the carefree days of summer, I am looking forward to all the prettiness Autumn brings with it!

For the pillow obsessed person I am, this delightful way of storing pillows in a wicker basket seems absolutely perfect!!

How have you been doing? I have missed you all.....

Fly With Me To Stockholm

Rooms that tell a story have always fascinated me! It is not about how much is in a room but what your eye settles on. For me, its this delightful gramophone in the image below.  I liked it instantly...... and then my eyes swept across the rest of the space and I was in love!
So here's a question for you today! When you first glance at a room either  in person or online....do you first notice an object in the space or the entire room?

What do you like about this lovely home in Stockholm?

Summer Musings & Alfresco Lounging :)

We are heading into the July 4th long weekend here in the United States. This year is going by really fast. I had made a few plans for this year and some of them have gotten off track! However, I hope to tackle them soon. Perhaps, by the end of the year I would have made some progress. This July, I am grateful that my parents are here with us for the summer break. I love watching my kids interact with my parents. They have their own unique relationship that is so enviable :) They have a number of fun things they do together, and it always makes me smile :)

We are heading off on a road trip soon and then in August to Europe. Traveling is such an integral part of our summer break. Since the kids have traveled with us extensively since they were little, they now look forward to it! I make them research the places we are visiting and after the trip they write about their experience. It makes for an interesting read!!

What are some of your summer family traditions ?

Today, I am sharing a few inspiring images from my favorite online magazine. This sure feels like summertime as I love alfresco dining! A book, a cool drink, a board game and a pretty hammock is all one needs to bask in the sunshine!

Here's wishing my readers here in the United States a Happy July 4th. Enjoy the long weekend and keep on smiling :)

Inspiring Interiors : A Wedding Designers Home

I am completely besotted by how cute this fella is :)  The house too looks awesome by the way :) This is the home of Heather Balliet, a wedding specialist whose translates her designing skills  from wedding decor to designing her stunning home. Heather is the owner of Amorology. In her words " We're known for creating personalized events that really tell the story of our couples. Our design is romantic and eclectic with a touch of playful, which is also reflective in our modern farmhouse home"

To me her home looks so inviting with the pops of color against all the white. Its both dramatic and super chic!

I love the bright vintage rugs!

This kitchen is what dreams are made of :)

Such a beautiful color palette. The rustic table blends in effortlessly with the sea green hues in the dining chairs.

I could not resist another cute picture of the doggy :) I do hope you enjoyed this home tour as much as I have :) The home looks dreamy, modern yet eclectic.....definitely a lovely addition to the Inspiring Interiors series on MDC!

Do you have a favorite element you love in this delightful home ?  I would love to know?  Have a great week ahead and keep on smiling:)

Springtime Inspiration

Hello There! I have come out of hibernation to welcome Spring to MDC :) Its been a while since I wrote a post however, I do hope you have been following my daily updates on Instagram. It is end March and Spring is at my doorstep waiting to come in :)
The barren trees make way for the pretty green leaves .....the lovely sight of flower buds getting ready to bloom......longer days.....sunnier skies....hmmm.....so much to look forward to!

On the home front, does your house get a spring makeover? For me, it is not really a makeover, but I do move things around to get a new look for the season. My color for this season is aqua and grey. It has been a favorite for a while but it seems to pop up more as I welcome Spring :-) I shall post pictures here very soon.

I do tend to update my home to welcome the new season. Each space in my home has a few permanent elements and some that are temporary. For this reason I am very partial to a neutral palette for my furniture and my walls. I only need to change the pillows, add some plants and a few accessories to give the room a new look! For Winter and Fall I like everything warm and cozy with a lot of layers. For Spring and Summer I like to remove the extra rugs on the floor, reduce the accessories and try and make the space look more breezy and open!

I strive towards making "my casa" clean, refreshing, light and tranquil. I am trying to attack the clutter in my home. It is taxing work but rewarding. While, I am trying to clean the home on the surface, I am also attacking my closets, shelves and drawers :) Sigh! I am going to be working for a long long time.....

Do you have some ideas on how to effortlessly transition into spring?

For now, I want you to simply gaze at these delightful images to set the mood for Spring :)

Have a good week and see you around!

Eclectic Living in Wisconsin

When a home comes together beautifully like this one and every niche has a story to tell..... I absolutely love  it! I have always been inclined towards homes with an  eclectic flair. I bookmarked this home to share with you as I was drawn to many elements in this space!

This delightful home is in Wisconsin and belongs to Megan Schlachtenhaufen and her family. Her home is vibrant and cozy. A boho abode mixed with a touch of modern. A DIY addict and a lady with a green thumb, her creativity spills into every corner of her home! The unique wall hangings on the walls in her home are created by Megan herself.

Prepare to be swept away by..............

Do you have a favorite design feature you love from her home?
