Weekend moments and more!!

Its been one of those weekends, not very exciting to say the least!! I am looking forward to the week ahead.......I know.......I know.....I sound crazy:-) Normally, I do cherish weekends like all you normal people:-) Have I shared my New Year resolution with you all? Its boring, but if I achieve it.....I shall be the happiest gal around:-)
I need and have to clear the clutter in my house by half by my birthday in March!! Ten years of odds and ends, knick-knacks, books, clothes, linen, curios and the recent acquisition .....the endless array of kids toys!!! Does anyone here empathise with me??? I have been looking around, and I can see that I have stuff that no longer ........for lack of a better word, fits the house!
I know, I am rambling........both on the blog and in person at home. To make myself feel better, I lit some tea lights around the house. They do cheer me up and calm me down. Do you have clutter at home, and how do you get rid of it???

I am joining Patty's Weekend Wrap up at Colour's Dekor. Head on over to her fabulous blog for some great inspiration.

A Garden tour

Hi there!! This is not exactly a home tour but a garden tour with a twist!!

I am not featuring the usual plants and flowers here:-) This gorgeous array of terracotta figures and murals are from my aunt's garden in India. My aunt, uncle and my cousin live in a two story house in a suburb of Delhi. Most of these pieces have been made by a potter she patronised for many years. My aunt ran a little boutique business of terracotta figurines and lamps for many years. Now the shop is no more, but her home and garden is a testament to her creativity and talent.

I took these pictures at a family lunch this winter. I do wish that I had taken some interior shots of the home as well. However, when we cousins meet up.... there is a lot of chit-chat, endless laughter and all else is forgotten:-)

I love the teracotta images all around the garden and the backyard. They add character and charm to the home...don't you think?? This home has been part of my childhood, and I look forward to coming here every trip. I have many fond memories of sitting and chatting wth my grandfather in this very garden.......

Dull, grey, cold and endless rain!!! That's my Friday for you! My plan for the day, is to get my two year old down for a nap. Once I achieve the almost impossible:-) I shall sit back, and enjoy a hot cup of tea on my favorite chair!

A weekend trip to Belgium:-)

Hello friends!! I got your attention didn't I? No, unfortunately, I am not heading to Belgium anytime soon. However, we are going to visit a delightful house on Lake Genval in Belgium. Since its almost Friday.......this would be my perfect weekend retreat. Hey, I can live vicariously through the blog:-)

The simplicity and rustic elegance of this home is just gorgeous. With a bedroom like this, I would never want to leave. I would read, read, and read away for years to come....
Come away with me and enjoy the weekend:-) To know more about this home, you can read about it here.

Vacation hangover!!

Seattle is dull and grey!! Why am I surprised??? Its winter after all!! However, after a glorious vacation in India and Bali, its bothering me a lot more. I came across another batch of photographs, I missed sharing with you before. The "gorgeousness" of Bali lingers in my mind. For now, I will wait for better weather with my cup of coffee, and remember those lovely days gone by.........

My Haven:-) ( a home tour like none other)

What is the one place that is your true haven? The place you feel safe, secure, spoilt and pampered. For me, its my parents home:-) Growing up as an army brat, my homes ranged from rambling mansions to tiny one room apartments. Each place so different, and yet so similar. It always had mommy's touch:-) Today, they are retired and settled in an apartment in the suburbs of Delhi. My mom is a huge fan of beige, brown and cream. Not sure if she really knows that:-) Yet, its definitely her trademark and the predominant color palette at home. She likes her home to be clutter free, with clean lines. She is not a shopaholic like me:-) Most of the knick-knacks around the home are family heirlooms. I have to say, that recently she got a bit bold and has painted two of her bedrooms - a lovely terracotta and a gorgeous sea green. Unfortunately, I do not have those pictures to share today.

These are a few images from my parents home. I took them while I was in India recently. A lot of the stuff was removed because of my destructive two year old:-) I love this home. Whenever I think of it, it gives me a warm feeling!!! I do hope you have enjoyed a visit to my haven:-)

Fabulous Delhi

Hello friends!!! Its been a fabulous vacation and now its back to reality! I am jet lagged, and while the rest of the house sleeps, I am tempted to blog away....
In India I spent my time in in Delhi and Kolkata. I also vacationed in Indonesia, and had a brief stopover in Japan, on my way back to Seattle. I come away with a lot of wonderful memories.
My first love of course is Delhi........as my husband said "you come alive in this city". Its so true!! Its my hometown and a city like none other :-) Winters in Delhi are simply the best. The music concerts, the endless exhibitions, plays, cultural events, and the fabulous "Haats" (markets). I spent a day at the Dastakari Haat just before I left...........a colorful extravaganza with endless arts and crafts!! A perfect end to my Delhi vacation. Anyone heading there soon.....please take me along :-) For all those planning a visit to Delhi, do stop by "Dilli Haat", the venue for many such markets throughout the year.
