My Dream Canvas Weekend!!

Hello there! Its time to begin a new week. However I am here to give you a quick account of my weekend. It was yet another round of spring cleaning at the MDC Casa :) My family I think is fed up! I owe them a treat as they are officially exhausted with all the cleaning. Van loads of stuff has been moved to Goodwill :) 

I received a few copies of my photographs in the mail. I had some of my tea time moments and other vignettes printed. I am so pleased with the result :)

I made a quick dash to one of my favorite stores and stumbled upon this striking tribal rug. I was so tempted to get it, but like a good girl I walked away from it :) The lady said she thinks it is from Morocco. However, I am confused as I have seen this work before. My mom reminded me that this cross stitch work is similar to the work they do in Kashmir. 
Any thoughts, do you know where this rug could be from???

After dinner last night, we  made a stop at the lake close to home. We were in for a treat. Check out this fabulous view:)

A Farewell to Summer!

We are enjoying the last of the summer days before Autumn comes around. What began as a dull and dismal day, turned out completely different by the end of the day! We drove down to the beach. As the sun came down, we witnessed the most magical sunset.

You can see my kids watching the sunset in the image above :)

The evening reminded me of one of my favorite quotes "Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time." -John Lubbock

 I am going to miss the endless summer days. The kids head back to school next week. Life is going to change as I know it! However, I shall look back and smile at all the wonderful summer memories! I am ready to embrace autumn now. With fall around, expect to see a few changes to the MDC Casa :)

An Ordinary Day Turns Extraordinary at MDC!!

Hello there!

It was a stunning day in my part of the world with blue skies, sparkling waters and snow capped peaks. It seemed as though everyone and everything around me was smiling :) The MDC family spent the first half of the day by the water followed by a nice long walk along the wetlands close to home!! My Buddha at home and my orchids too seemed enveloped in a golden light!

This is an image of my little one running along the walking trail. These moments are what makes an ordinary day extraordinary. A day filled with simple joys, family moments and smiles all around :) We all lead very hectic and stressful lives, its refreshing to slow down the pace once in a while.......right?

Hello June and some Weekend Moments

June is off to a great start in my neck of the woods!! The days are filled with abundant sunshine and pretty wildflowers are in bloom wherever I look. My idea of a perfect weekend is going on a drive with my family. Today, we managed to steal away some time to do just that!

I took these pictures on the way to a Lake 45 mins away from home. I love living in the Pacific Northwest. Its truly gratifying to be in the midst of such natural beauty!

Driving around today, I was reminded of a quote by William Shakespeare "I like this place and could willingly waste my time in it.”

Long Weekend Bliss

It is a long weekend here in the States.....yippee!!! To celebrate we jumped into the car and went for a hike close to home. The trail takes you to a lighthouse along the water. Ferries, Yachts, Kids squealing in delight, birds chirping in the distance, a limo parked along the side waiting for the bride and groom to return from the photo shoot completed the picture :)

We loved the hike and my little one went crazy seeing all the wildflowers :) Happy Weekend everyone!!

Peony Love at My Dream Canvas

 Hello Monday! The days are whizzing past as we slowly march towards summer in my part of the world! Summer in the Pacific Northwest is what I live for. I love the fifteen hours of sunshine, blue skies, endless mountain views and the sparking waters of the lake and ocean. You might think that I am making this up, but its true.....this is a pretty part of the world :)

This weekend for me went by exactly the way I like it. Dinner with friends on Friday, some errands and some housework ( I am working on fixing my loft upstairs and I shall share pictures soon), we grilled in our backyard, indulged in afternoon siesta.....yes we manged that too :) and I loved listening to my kids chatter incessantly with their Dad while I cooked a nice dinner for them on Sunday!!

Last but not the least I made a trip to the Farmers market and picked up these stunning Peonies. I do think that Peonies are the prettiest flowers in the world! I usually find them in a pale pink color but this was the first time I saw them in this color. I could not resist these beauties :) They somehow remind me of the color ashes of roses, I know that is not exactly true, but I like the thought of it :) What can I say I love Thorn Birds!!

Jaypore Giveaway and Weekend Wrap Up

My weekend ended on a nice note. After the usual errands, we drove up to the lake to bike!. It was cold. This Monday morning I woke up to some sunshine. I had  moved my houseplants next to the window for some light but now I quite like them there :)

My Weekend in Pictures

I plan to be regular with my blog posts but it will be challenging :) My in laws are visiting from India and this weekend we took them on a ferry to Whidbey island. The Weekend Beckons.....

Happy Friday! The weekend beckons and I am here to wish you a great one:) I have some deadlines to meet for next week and my house is chaotic to say the least. I had a bout bad of the flu that lasted nearly three weeks. I am on the mend now, but that's the reason why my home has been completely neglected. I plan to remedy that this weekend! I have a full plate..... but I am sure most of you do too :)

Sometimes weekends are not really about relaxing but getting stuff done! Do you feel like that?

The Holiday Season

Hello! It is Monday once more :) In my neck of the woods it is all about the Holiday Season. Thanksgiving weekend was fun and now it is the countdown to Christmas :)

Every where you go there is music in the air :) Shoppers galore, Christmas trees getting set up and looking pretty.....homes being decked for the season.........twinkling lights and so much more! This is a picture I took of the festive atmosphere at a local mall. They call this the Snowflake lane and my kids love it. There is loud music, lights, princesses and fairies and other characters all dressed up to amuse the kids! The grown ups had fun too :)

These are the simple joys that make a weekend memorable, don't you think ? Here's wishing you a great week ahead!

Tea and Magazines

Hello there! I had a pretty decent weekend and here is a recap. I went for a movie on Friday with some friends. That is a rare achievement for me :) We had dinner with some other friends on Saturday. The friends whose place we went for dinner, have something quite extraordinary in their home. I am in love with the concept, the design and the sentiment behind it. I hope to share it with you soon. For now I can only tell you that it is something beautiful :)

I briefly flipped through some design magazines on Sunday! It has been ages since I had time to do that. It was relaxing :)

Build Up To Thanksgiving

It is a chilly evening in my part of the world. The endless rain would usually bug me! However, the build up to Thanksgiving and with the Holiday season upon us....... I am all smiles :) I spent the day shopping and running errands. There is a buzz all around! Despite the chaotic traffic and the shopping frenzy, I love going out this time of the year :)

Lighting a few candles at home always makes me feel warm and fuzzy :) This Thanksgiving day, I plan to cook for my family, spend some time with close friends and generally enjoy the holidays :)

The Weekend Beckons....

It is Friday evening in my neck of the woods. I am ready to crawl into bed for the entire weekend! There are weekends when you really don't want to do anything! This image is one of those feel good photos and my idea of how I want to spend the next two days.....

Hello Monday and My Weekend in Pictures

Hello to the New Week! It was an action packed weekend for me. I promise you an action packed week on MDC as well :)

The weekend began with a dinner with friends, followed by the usual boring errands the next day and finally a mini break today :) I had promised my kids a trip to a pumpkin patch and that is exactly what we did! I prayed for the rain to stop and thankfully the sun came out for a short while. We did manage to go hunting for the perfect pumpkin to bring back home. It was muddy and messy and my son had a bit of a fall.......which was not pleasant! However, despite it all the MDC family came back grinning :) We took pictures, we hauled......sorry hubby hauled a massive pumpkin back to the car, while the kids and I munched happily on kettle corn!! I shall leave out the part about the messy car and the boots coated with mud which I have to clean. I am sure you are not interested in the mundane details of my life :)

We drove further into the mountains and saw snow capped peaks and some fall foliage along the way. I love the Pacific Northwest. You can drive a few hours away from home and feel like you are on a holiday...... far from the madding crowd :) Of course, at the end of the day I am always happy to be back at the MDC Casa :)

A Friday Moment

It is a typical Fall day today. The wind is blowing the leaves around and there is a nip in the air. My yard backs up into a green belt. It is a pretty sight to see the leaves ablaze through my window.

I am enjoying my afternoon tea and popping by to wish you a wonderful weekend!!

The Perfect Room and a Perfect Stroll :)

I had a crazy weekend. Errands and social commitments kept us on our toes :) However the highlight of the weekend was a long walk with my family down a street close to home! I cross this street almost everyday. These days the trees have a fiery glow that takes my breath away. Fall comes every year and yet when October comes around....... I fall in love again :)


The days are getting cooler and the leaves are flying in the wind. We have only a few short days to admire all this beauty. I plan to make the most of it. This seems like the perfect room to while away time during these blistery Fall days :)

Sunday Wishes

Sunflowers and Sunshine

Sunflowers and Sunshine look good together:) Looking pretty in my living room these flowers bathed in sunlight set a happy tune for the weekend.

These days I am completely baffled by the weather in Seattle. Sunshine and warm temperatures in September is spooky:) We should be in jackets by now and lamenting about the endless rain:)  This weekend will be pretty busy for me.......hopefully I can catch a quiet moment here and there!!

MDC is back with home tours next week and I will have something exciting to share with you as well!!

Flowers, Sunshine and My Home

Hello to the new week!! My weekend was nice. I enjoyed lazing around in my family room with a cup of tea. It was relaxing just to watch the afternoon sun streaming in through the windows. Sometimes the simplest of things can give you so much joy :)  A dinner at home on Friday, a bit of retail therapy of Saturday and a lovely family dinner on Sunday. This weekend was certainly a good mix :)

The kids will be getting back to school soon.....life will get back to being pretty routine!! It is nice to party, relax and unwind and make the most of the last few days of summer!!!!

While I love changing the decor around in my house.......there are some constants in my home that I can never put away or get tired of having around. My lantern lamp was an inexpensive find. The lamp is not flashy but I love it :)  I feel the same way about my white metal vase. A few stems of flowers in this intricately carved vase always seems to brighten my day :) Does this happen to you?? We all have our special thing.........don't we :)
