Thank you and a break!

Hello there! My week has been busy and also very eventful! I am really touched and excited with the response to my "Shop". Thank you all for your encouraging comments. Since the inception of My Dream Canvas, this little store has always been a dream of mine and now it is turning into reality! As of now I am only shipping within USA and Canada. However, as the store goes online and grows, the plan is to ship internationally as well.

On another note, I am taking a ten day break and will be back blogging again in the second week of August. If you have any enquires regarding the items in the shop, please email me at anuseattle@gmail.com. I shall try and respond at the earliest.

The Canadian Rockies beckon...... and I am really excited about the road trip with hubby, kids and my parents! By the way, this is a picture of a corner in my breakfast nook that I am currently reorganising.

My living room with the sun streaming in.......

Meet the latest addition to my household. Mr Sheru (Tiger), this attractive cushion with the tiger print was sent by my cousin from India. Thanks Pooj!

I had been looking for these plates that I had bought in Florence many years ago. I found them recently and now they are on the wall in my breakfast nook!

Have a lovely weekend my friends.........I shall miss you all!!

On my wish list....

Hi there! You are all aware of my constant refrain that it rains a lot where I live :-) I have a small backyard behind my house. Unfortunately I I get to use only three months of the year. I love that I have a green belt behind the yard. The tall trees give my home and my yard a lot of privacy as well as greenery. These past few days I have been meaning to give my yard a makeover. I hope I can achieve this as the rains can be a huge deterrent. I have a million ideas floating in my head and a trip to the nursery is long overdue!

However, for now I am drooling over this pretty balcony in Stockholm, Sweden. The pink and green hues make everything look so feminine, fresh and summery.......

Enjoy the view!!

Hello Sunshine!

Hello All!! How was your weekend? Mine was good.....a trip downtown, dinner with friends, endless sunshine, flowers from Pike place market and of course the usual errands :-) I really need to get more organised and make lists before I go to the grocery store. I seem to be going there every two days! Does that happen to you a lot??

After all the cloudy days, I could not help but take a few pictures of my home with sunlight streaming in! I have a few exciting things planned for this week.... after which I shall be on a ten day break! Here's wishing you a wonderful week ahead.................

Weekend wishes...

Remember my trip to the Lavender Festival last weekend?? This is where we stopped for lunch. My parents treated us to this lovely restaurant called 3 Crabs on Dungeness Bay. The view was stunning, almost haunting........an unforgettable day and an awesome meal :-) I played around with this picture I to give it a retro 1960's look!

Enjoy your weekend. While the rest of the country is dealing with scorching heat and they do have my sympathies.....we are eagerly awaiting a sunny weekend with temperature in the 70's! See you back here on Monday with a fun week on MDC!!!

Back to Spain and day dreaming :-)

Today, as I was browsing through my inspiration folder I found this lovely home in Spain. I wonder how I missed posting it earlier!!! I love the thought behind this home. The owner spent many childhood summers in Costa Del Sol, Spain and came back here to build a home for herself.  I am sure like me, you will enjoy a peek into her warm and vibrant home filled with things collected during her travels to Morocco, England and Paris and visits to flea markets. She sounds like my kind of gal :-)

Don't you think.... It would be lovely to build a home where you spent your childhood vacations ? For me that would be a tough choice. I led a fairly nomadic life being an army brat :-) I moved around a lot .......I changed thirteen schools. I can almost see the shock on my son's face when I try and explain that to him :-)  As for my wish list of where I would like my houses.....here goes.......

Delhi (India) any time of the year....Jodhpur (India) in the winter months......Kasauli, (India), in the summer months.....Amalfi (Italy) anytime of the year. Hawaii.....anytime of the year and of course Seattle which is home today :-)

Yes, the list is long, and totally impractical but hey.......nobody can stop you from making lists and dreaming :-)

So, do share your wish list with me and......till then enjoy this stunning home in Spain.

Rain Rain go away!

The rain is back and its been a miserable two days. Oh! How I miss Seattle's glorious summer days. My sinuses are back with a bang and I am not a happy gal! Does weather effect your mood as well? Mine certainly does! These gorgeous sunny balconies look so beautiful.....and picture perfect. I wish I could be there enjoying the endless sunshine!!

I love the way these tiny areas have been designed and decorated  to create these gorgeous outdoor spaces! What do you think? Have a great week and come back soon.....

Lavender filled Weekend.....

Here's to a new week and I hope its a good one! My weekend was lovely. A 20 minute drive from home, followed by a half hour ferry trip and then an hours drive took us to the Lavender festival in Sequim. I was mesmerised by the beauty of the lavender fields dotting the countryside. Nestled between the coast and the  foothills of the Olympic mountains, Sequim is a lovely little town that I have fallen in love with. With the clouds rolling in........the fragrance of lavender and my family beside me.......it made for a memorable weekend.  I stopped wherever I could to photograph these fragrant beauties.

Come away with me to the land of lavender fields and endless beauty.........

I love this lavender colored bike......

The colors were gorgeous..............

Endless vistas.................

The potters at the Street fair in Sequim. These were my favorite!!

More and more lavender...............and some came home :-)

The street fair had Lavender products galore and I picked up a few :-) The fragrance was intoxicating........absolutely heavenly....it was hard to walk away:-) So was the lavender and peach ice cream and the lavender mint tea that I happily gobbled up :-)

I hope you enjoyed my little tour.......see you around!

Luna Seas

Hello Monday to all of you! Let me introduce you to my new love.....yes, I am smitten and very much in love with a cute little cottage called Luna Seas! I came face to face with this delightful home on a recent trip to Vancouver Island, Canada. There, outside the little town of Sooke, was this dreamy little cottage waiting for me to stop by :-) We pulled the car to the side of the road and walked down the walkway and there it was.....paradise on earth!

A one bedroom, one bath oasis with magnificent views of the Pacific, the Olympic mountains and a sail boat or two in the distance. It was love at first sight for me :-) I could imagine writing a novel, painting a masterpiece, having a romantic affair with my husband (yes I am boring) or simply gazing out at the sea!!! I am not kidding when I say that I am a dreamer at heart :-) You can imagine how reluctant I was to get back into the car......and after we got back to the hotel I did some research about Luna Seas on the web. Luna Seas has no TV or internet......okay, after I heard that I knew that I might go a bit crazy  after a few days.........but as a vacation and a weekend getaway this would be absolutely fabulous!!! To know more about this cottage, read about it here

Here are a few of my memories captured through my camera lens of my new love "Luna seas"

Home Crush!

Join me today to visit a country home near Lisbon, Portugal. I was swept away by the beauty and serenity of the first image. If I had an outdoor space like this, I would never leave :-) I would do nothing but laze around all day when surrounded by such beauty :-)

The rehabilitation of this Portuguese cottage has created a home that is sophisticated and chic and yet retains the simplicity of its architectural origins.
