Hello 2025! It's been a while since I was here. So today, I am excited to launch a new collection at the Shop At My Dream Canvas

As you are well aware, I love curating a collection of unique, vintage and one of a kind accessories for your home aka The Shop at My Dream Canvas. These new pieces bring together my love for thrift stores, flea markets and vintage finds. Apart from the brass collection I source from India, I am so excited to take you on this new journey with me. This unique collection is locally sourced as I treasure hunt around town and in my travels😊 Come with me on this treasure hunt and let’s find some fun pieces for your home.  We ship within the United States only. These are limited pieces and tend to sell out quickly.

Also remember to follow us Instagram for my daily musings and the new page for the Shop At MDC on Shop At MDC on Insta

I do hope you will enjoy this collection as I really had fun putting it together just for you.

Happiness is Homemade So Let’s Go Find It :)

I am a sentimental fool and I am quite happy being one :) I am very zealous and protective when it comes to my family and I love preserving memories......be it scraps of paper, frayed photographs, heirlooms and so much more. Every trip back to India, I insist on working on some project or the other related to the past! It keeps everyone including my parents on their toes :) During this lockdown,I have dedicated even more time to this passion of mine!! While there is lots to do, I have made a few strides that I am proud of.

I think along the same lines about my decor. I want our home to be a visual collage of our memories, our life and our roots! Do you believe that authenticity works in home decor? I would like to think so and highly recommend it. I think trend, styles, fashion, fads...... whatever you call it has a very limited shelf life. It is always refreshing to come across a home that is not trying to prove something. Many of us share a common desire to keep a beautiful home. However, the key is not to get too swept away by the plethora of fascinating ideas and trends of the design world :)

Maintaining or decorating a house should not feel like pressure. I cannot speak for others but my blog is merely a platform to share my thoughts and present you with a selection of pretty things and interesting ideas. However, I would humbly like to believe that it is also a happy place for you to stop by:) A place which leaves you energized to create, enjoy and appreciate the little things you surround yourself with.

Appreciate the beauty around you and on my blog :-) but be the person you naturally are. Find the beauty and the desire to create within "YOU". Thank you for stopping by. It has been a decade of blogging for me, and its your constant support that has given MDC this longevity. Life in general this year, seems to be throwing a lot of punches, yet, we all have to bond together, stay calm and find some peace and happiness doing the little things.

Today, I am finding happiness seeing these pretty flowers on my table. I picked them up on my walk over the weekend. I feel a sense of happiness and belonging when I step into my home and I wish the same for you. Happiness is truly homemade. So go find it :)

A Season of Festivities and Gratitude

Hello there! It has been a busy few weeks. September begins with a new school year and its exhausting! New schedules, new challenges and the rude sound of the alarm clock after a long summer :) October rolls in..... and brings with it Autumn and the festive season. This year we faced the added drama of my 13 year fracturing his hand! It threw us off a bit as a family..... however, my baby is a good sport! He seems to be coping well with his schoolwork and other things with support from us.

I also have an update on the Shop At My Dream Canvas! The Festive collection is now online!  Today, I wrote a small post about my little store on Instagram and wanted to share it here as well...

It was March 13th 2011 my birthday, when I announced the launch of the Shop At My Dream Canvas! My little store is soon going to be in its 9th year! It has been an incredible journey! During this process, while I have had a lot of fun , it has also been exhausting😳I have a lot of people to thank for their constant support and encouragement! Without them, I know I would have given up a long time ago! I have to thank the people who read my blog, my regular clients who thankfully 🙏🏽keep coming back and to constantly meeting new people who help my business grow! Ask any small business owner....we have our highs and our lows but when you have passion you persevere and somehow things fall into place! I run a one woman show with my husband and kids cheering me on😀My team in India is my rock! My parents who support me and spend a lot of their time doing the back end work to run this store! From sourcing to packaging they are involved in all of it! Amarjeet and Virender Bhaiya you both are truly God sent! Last, but not the least, my mom’s best friend who helped get this entire enterprise started. She is the one who found me the sources to procure the stuff! NM passed away last year! I miss her immensely! She will always have my gratitude🙏🏽I seem to be rambling a bit ....but I truly want to thank you guys for all the love ❤️ Your comments and support makes me smile 😃 every single day!

Its been hard to focus these days....this is what the streets close to my home look like!! Fiery autumn hues tempt you to pull over and admire the view!!

We as a family love road trips! When you have the Cascade mountains in your backyard its even more tempting to hit the road. This is a view of Liberty bell at Washington pass on the North Cascades highway!

Here's wishing you a happy Festive and Holiday season! Join us on Instagram for everyday updates on the happenings at my casa and my little store!!

A Moodboard As A Headboard

Have you ever thought of creating a mood board? I have been thinking of using an entire wall in my study area to do just that! However, a mood board headboard is quite a novel idea and I absolutely love it. The lovely blogger Tessa Barton has created one in her small apartment in New York and its absolutely perfect. Imagine getting up every morning to see such a happy and cheerful space! An ever changing canvas of all things happy, pretty and Oh! so inspiring!

Did you notice the pillow in the first image? It says " No Bad Days", now that would certainly bring a smile to my face :) Simple yet effective, it is a good motto to live with.... what say??

I am excited about working on my own mood board soon! What about you? Do you have one? If you were to create one, what would it be about? It would be fun to share some ideas...

You can follow Tessa via Instagram to know more about her and to view pictures of her lovely home!

On a completely different note, have you checked out the shiny new collection at The Shop At My Dream Canvas :)

Hello From Seattle and An Update!

It has been a while I know but I am back in Seattle now!! I have been away from my home over over two months and its like settling back in all over again. My list of things to do has been endless and I am getting weighed down! However with the festive season knocking on my doorstep, I am working on getting my little online boutique ready for the season. Its a work in progress an a bit trying at times as its a one woman enterprise!!

This season the tradition and the eclectic, the vintage and the boho will all come together at The Shop At MDC :) I am excited!! Do hop on over to the store and stay updated via Instagram for constant updates regarding the shop and my life :)

On the home front, we are taking on our first ever renovation and September is looking busy! My son is heading off to middle school soon and for me that's a huge milestone! My Dad was unwell and hospitalized for a while which is what took me to India this summer. Thankfully, he is back on his feet literally as his Grand kids drove him crazy this summer :) I am so very grateful that he is well! Its been a long road to recovery!

Life gets busy and chaotic for all of us.... but its always good to unwind and try and do what you love! For me, its always therapeutic getting back to blogging and photography!!

Stay in touch and keep on smiling! I promise to be around :)

A Timeless Collection

Its no secret for those who know me that I have lifelong love affair with flea markets, auctions, thrift stores and antiques stores. In fact, going to such places is becoming a way of life for me! I buy things for my customers, my friends and of course for myself! What can I say, I have a gazillion excuses to go shopping :)

I have said this before....I like the idea that I am curating a collection that have history and soul. They add character to my home and hopefully to the homes of my clients! Call me old fashioned, but I cannot resist things that have an old word charm! Being trendy of course is fabulous.... but there are things that are stylish and have a timeless beauty and they appeal to me the most!

This vintage beauty below will be listed in my store soon! However, I have a question for you.....if this was in your home, how would you use it?

It will be fun to hear from you. please leave your comments below :) I am so excited to hear your thoughts!!

A Passion and A Dream : My Little Store

The Shop At M Dream Canvas is my baby and a dream come true :)  I am so grateful for all the support I have received the past few years! Decor and Photography have been my passion for years! Perusing magazines, blogs, watching HGTV and gazing at well dressed homes are all things I like to do.

My little boutique gives me the freedom to roam and explore! To hunt down treasures from far and near! I want to carefully curate a collection of home accessories exclusively for you! At the onset, my store  featured a collection of brass artifacts from India which have been extremely popular! Today, however, I have included with it...... my love for all things vintage! I want to to encourage the use of things from the past in everyday life, so they don't gather dust on a shelf or get hidden away in boxes.

My passion for collecting is known to my family and friends!  I grew my own personal collection with family heirlooms and from antique stores and flea markets! I thank all those people who encouraged me to share this love with you and that was the origin of The Shop At My Dream Canvas!

Running a small business has its share of challenges! It takes time to build a reputation and a following, As you know nothing happens overnight :)  You simply have to ride the wave and not give up!

For now, I am simply enjoying the journey and hope to be doing this for a long long time :)

So if there are any of you out there, waiting to follow your dream.....do begin! Start small and simple and then build up slowly, it will happen for you :)

An Eclectic Australian Home and A Question : What is Vintage ?

I like homes that are layered with old world charm and have an eclectic feel to it! This is the home of creative shopkeepers Lynn and Geoff Clay in Australia. I stumbled upon this home home via Design Files and love the feel of it. Lovely antiques and vintage artwork come together to create their own unique decor.

The term vintage and antiques are used very often in the blogging world today! However, I wish people would refrain from using these terms loosely. A few years ago, I wrote a post about What is Vintage! I would love for you to read it and share your thoughts!

I am scouting around constantly to find unique pieces for your home! Featured here is my latest find :)  Hop on over to The Shop At My Dream Canvas to know more!

Thank you Nomadic Decorator

My little boutique "The Shop At MDC" has been a dream come true! It has been so fulfilling and gratifying to personally hunt down treasures for your homes! Recently, I heard from a loyal customer who mentioned that she has not been back to India for ten years and by buying my brass collectibles she feels closer to home! I was touched to say the least!

Another delightful surprise came from Deb from Nomadic Decorator. Deb bought these brass tribal spoons from my store! She is a super talented lady and a wonderful source of inspiration. If you have not been following Nomadic Decorator you are missing out and you should bookmark it right away!
Deb has used a simple and extremely effective DIY to display these striking brass spoons using a silk lined picture frame. Hop on over to her blog to view her entire post! She has a beautiful home and I am so thrilled to see the brass spoons displayed beautifully in her living room!

I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting me in this journey. The life of a small business owner and entrepreneur is challenging and yet all of you make it all so worthwhile!

Thank you Deb for loving my find :)

Suzani's At The Shop At My Dream Canvas

Its a cold dreary day in my part of the world! However, I am clapping my hands in glee looking at these gorgeous suzani pillows from Uzbekistan which are listed on The Shop At My Dream Canvas!

"Suzani"  as you might know means needlework, but to most collectors, the word has a more specific meaning. "suzani" is synonymous with embroidery from Uzbekistan, in Central Asia.  In recent years, there has been  a remarkable revival of this old traditional art form. We are so excited to have these beauties as part of our collection!

Find them here!
