Monday is Here!

It is Monday once more......and a cold and windy autumn day in my part of the world. There are leaves falling everywhere. I could spend hours walking outside and feel the leaves crunch beneath my feet. The gentle floating of the leaves as they fall to the ground is a pretty sight!

Hello there and a virtual trip...

Good morning all! How have you been? Its been a busy few days for me, and its gets busier as I head off to India in less than two weeks :-) We had a lovely time celebrating Diwali (the festival of lights at our home) last night. Today, it is a gorgeous Fall day here in the Pacific Northwest. I have a million of things to tackle but I am enjoying the sun streaming through my window. Grab a cup of tea and join me as I take you away to Spain with me :-)

A 19th century industrial building has been lovingly restored to create this lovely home in Cadiz, Spain. I really like the bright and rustic feel to this house......

Diwali Wishes!!

Diwali is one of my favorite times of the year. It is called the Festival of Lights and is truly a beautiful day. Today, I am here to wish my readers all over the world happiness and prosperity and send you my best wishes! You all are an integral part of my everyday life. My Dream Canvas would not be the same without you and for that I am very grateful.

A New Week....

Hello Monday and a big hello to all of you! My weekend was busy and fun.....and the week ahead is busier!! Diwali parties, shopping, a musical at my son's school, lunch with friends, birthday parties and packing for my trip to India....I am exhausted and excited all at the same time! Sounds funny......I know.....but that is where I am :-)

Happy Fridays...

Fridays are way more special than the actual weekend. Friday goes by in anticipation of the weekend. Should we rest, relax, run errands, watch movies...party etc etc....??? Well, in our case it is also taking my son for soccer, swimming etc...etc.......you know what I mean :-) However, the excitement of Friday never seems to fade! The weekend is usually spent cribbing about how fast it went by :-)


So I declare Fridays as happy days :-) I have a couple of Diwali parties to look forward to, errands to run and a bit of shopping to do for my trip to India!

Fall at my doorstep!

Today, I am officially welcoming Fall in my home :-) I finally got around to putting up the fall and Halloween decorations.  It is glorious outside, bright and sunny.....one of those perfect autumn days!

I love the autumn colors.....they make me feel warm and happy inside! I have said it before, and I am saying it again :-) It is time to kick off the festive season here at My Dream Canvas!!!! Diwali, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and my brother's wedding....yes, that too :-) Its going to be a fun filled few months, so I hope to see you around :-)

Countdown....and a New Week

A new week begins. There is lots happening right here at My Dream Canvas. With Diwali (the festival of lights) just ten days away....I am inviting you all to celebrate this festival with me!! The summer gone by...

Its almost Friday.....hurray :-) This weekend I have plans to decorate the house for fall. My 6 yr old son is very excited and ready to be my little helper! Fall is stunning, the colors everywhere are mesmerising...... and yet today I seem to be reminiscing about the Summer gone by!!


It was a lovely time filled with sunny days, family and friends, long road trips and glorious vistas. Blue skies, the shimmering sea and endless roads heading towards beauty and solitude.......I could go on forever :-)

My Comfort Zone!

My family room is the hub of all activity in my household! It  is my comfort zone where I feel the most comfortable. We spend almost every minute of our day here. The kids play, fight, I unwind here, teach them, scream at them, blog...... ......you get the picture :-)......everything happens here!! We spend time as a family every evening and discuss our day in this room. I like to keep this room clutter free and without frills! While I love to decorate my home with interesting finds....keeping my home open and spacious is as important to me! While tables filled with curios, numerous potted plants, and knick knacks....look pretty......it would bother me if I had too many things around me ! I admire people who make their home look like a magazine cover and yet manage to feel comfortable in that space.

Luckily for me, I do have a another living room that the kids stay away from and that area stays intact most of the time. That space is for me... the decor obsessed lady while this space defines me as the mom, the wife and the homemaker :-)

I want a room in my home where everyone feels comfortable and relaxed.....
What do you feel? Can comfort and style go hand in hand? Are they both not equally important for your home? I am constantly striving to strike that balance.....

Creativity at its best!

When one of my readers sent me this gorgeous image of Ganesha that she had made.... I was truly amazed.

In Ranjitha's words  "I am a working mom living in Chicago and have two daughters who are 11 and 3. After work, most of my time goes in chauffeuring the kids - which I LOVE. I love spending time with my girls. I have been in US for little more than 13 years. I enjoy travelling and have been to Canada, France, Switzerland, Italy and Australia. I made the Ganesha idol with Crayola air dry clay. It took me about 3 hours to make it. Since the clay was white, I dabbed different colored glitter on the idol

Autumn days and Mondays...

Autumn is here and the fall colors are everywhere. I took these pictures outside my mall. Yes, I pretty much carry my camera everywhere :-) The air is crisp, the days are cool and the trees are covered in a myriad of hues.....it is such a gorgeous time of the year!

Here is a snapshot of my weekend...of course there was a lot more mundane stuff going on .....but lets not focus on that shall we :-)

So shake off those Monday blues and enjoy the week ahead....
