Fabulous Finds : Aalamwaar Textiles

I recently spotted Aalamwaar Textiles in the latest issue of Lonny Magazine. I had seen their work before and really liked it. Today, I am delighted to feature them as part of MDC's Fabulous Finds.

Aalamwaar Textiles is a social enterprise that specializes in handmade clothing and home furnishings. Aalamwaar’s priority is to preserve, document, sustain and promote traditional textile-making techniques in India. By employing grass root artisans, Aalamwaar aims to create livelihood for indigenous craftspeople and their families in India. Each piece of fabric is hand-dyed and block-printed and finished at Aalamwaar’s workshop in Hyderabad, India. All of Aalamwaar's products are dyed using plant-derived natural dyes or with low environmental impact dyes. This is certainly an initiative after my own heart.

Aalamwaar Textiles is the brainchild of Viji Reddy. While based here in the States, Viji  has her own workshops in India where a group of skilled artisans translate her ideas into exquisite products for contemporary living.

These beautiful products can be found at various retail establishments all over the United States. With the festive season coming up.......... it is the perfect time to browse through Aalamwaar's products and pick out something new for yourself and your home :)
