Come Fly With Me To Jamaica

It is almost the end of the week and it is time to relax, unwind and indulge in a bit of day dreaming:) I almost forgot to feature this week's Come Fly With Me Series:)  Are you ready to fly with me to Jamaica? The GoldenEye Hotel and Resort looks as glamorous as it sounds! Are you wondering how this fabulous resort got its name? Here is a bit of history that I personally find fascinating.

I quote from the hotel's website " Ian Fleming first came to Jamaica during WWII, sent by Naval Intelligence to investigate U-Boat activities in the Caribbean. It was difficult for him to keep his mind on the war, such was the beauty of the place and its people. He knew that when the war ended, it was there that he would live out his life, in the sun, by the sea. He had visited a property on the sea in the little village of Oracabessa Bay, which means “golden head.” By chance he had been working on a naval operation called GoldenEye. He bought the property, and when the war ended, built his dream house. Above all it was a place to dream.......and it was at GoldenEye that he dreamed up James Bond, 007"

Wow is all I can say:) Today, the property has 20 cottages set around a picturesque lagoon. Sigh!! Some people lead such glamorous lives!! However, I quite enjoy my virtual trips to these fabulous places. Without actually going there I still manage to feel pretty relaxed:)

Here's wishing you a very Happy Friday!

What a coincidence, Anu. Just last evening my son wanted to know more about Jamaica and we were reading about the island nation on World Book including the pronunciation (juh MAY kuh) and today I find this fabulous post.

After reading about the touristy places, it was on my mind to check out more this morning and here you write about it :) Love the picturesjust like any beach destination.

These pictures make me want to go to Jamaica now! Since it isn't possible, I guess I am just going to open some wine and cook some authentic jerk chicken (recipe comes from my Jamaican hairdresser's grandma) and console myself! :)
