My Love For History!

For those of you who have been reading My Dream Canvas for a while know that I love anything old and vintage. That includes art and architecture. Somehow the buildings from a bygone era exude romance and beauty that surpasses anything in the present day.
Today, we have fancy machines, architects and all the modern equipment available to build impressive buildings. However, in those days all these resources were not around. What amazes me..... is how these buildings were built. It would be a fascinating journey! I often wonder about.....who designed these work of art and who were those workers/artists who created these masterpieces. In those days. the buildings were literally hand built!!

Next week I shall share some pictures of this exquisite building which lies in the midst of a bustling city and has recently been restored! Can any of you guess where this is??

Have an awesome weekend!! I am looking forward to Sunday because of the big game!! Go Hawks!!!

A room with a View!

Where would you like to live?? A bedroom overlooking the Napa valley in California, or a room with a view of the blue Pacific or a view of the mountains in Colorado. Each of these bedrooms are so pretty with their lovely vistas!!! Which one is your favorite?? I really envy those people who live with views of the mountains and the sea.....
Have a lovely weekend my friends!

A riot of colors from the Yucatan!!

A Happy Monday everyone!! Mexico beckons, and I am drooling over the interiors of the Hacienda Puerta Campeche. A restored 17th century mansion with a unique architecture and design. The colors and textures gives the Hacienda a traditional setting surrounded by modern luxuries!! As an aspiring photographer this place fascinates me!!!! Don't you just love the colors, and the gorgeous pool?

If wishes had wings......

Waterfront Yali in Istanbul

Yali's, I like the sound of it :-) These are actually homes in Turkey built on the river Bosphorus. In the 18th and 19th centuries rich Ottomans, eager to escape the summer heat of Istanbul, built wooden villas—Yalis—along its banks. With the fall of the Ottoman Empire after World War I, the Yali's fell out of favor. The Turks have recently realized what treasures they are.
This Yali was beautifully restored by a couple in the late 90's and the interiors as well as the fabulous location takes my breath away...

I love the elegance of this room and the gorgeous view. The chairs are my favorite....and are just my style!!

Hope you enjoyed your trip to Istanbul :-)

Aren't we all in love with Mama Mia the movie, ABBA and Greece? I know that even my one year old is mesmerised when she hears the music of Mama Mia :-) Did you notice the fabulous scenery, the gorgeous villa and my favorite ..the little church high up on the cliff looking down at the Mediterranean sea. What a picture perfect setting to get married......sigh!! Go on and watch the movie if you have not.................you'll know what I mean.

Greece fascinates me and the Tsitorous Hotel Collection in Santorini is stunning with its charming decor and perfect setting.
This is Part One of my series on Greek Architecture and Interiors , so stay tuned!!
