Apartment in Stockholm

This home in Stockholm is striking in my book! Pops of color.... interesting knick- knacks from around the world bought by the owners during their travels.....combined with a unique sense of style!

I like the first image. The lovely cushions and the beautiful flowers look so pretty together! Click here to view more pictures of this home!

Fabulous Finds : Charan Creations on Etsy.

Charan Creations is a shop on Etsy that sells hand carved wooden stamps. By selling these stamps online, the owner Charan from Toronto helps sustain livelihood for a family of artisans in India. The family has been in this trade since 1912......nearly five generations! It is truly a great initiative!

I have seen a number of online stores selling hand carved wooden stamps. However, the collection at Charan's creations is the prettiest I have ever seen. I think these stamps make wonderful gifts as well :) Here are my favorites......

The peacock is so beautiful and regal......

Oh! so pretty!

I love the Goddess......very unique!

My Home is My Canvas

I like to think of my home as an ever changing canvas that brings my thoughts to life :) You can clearly see why the blog is called My Dream Canvas :) I started this journey three years ago with the simple desire to create something for myself! Today, it has turned into a lifestyle blog focusing on design and decor! However, in the beginning all I did was take pictures of my home :)  My first canvas was my windowsill :) I would create little vignettes using things from my home. I used anything that caught my fancy that particular day :)

I still have a lot of fun doing that. For me it is like reading a book, or sipping a cup of tea, Creating these little corners makes me happy and helps me de -stress :)

Some people might call it silly, perhaps even a waste of time. However, for me these are the simple joys of life!! I believe that if you do something that makes you feel relaxed and happy....... you should take some time out to do it! I know this can end up helping those around you as well . Just ask my husband and kids :)

Life is complicated...........and My Dream Canvas helps me simplify it a wee bit :) Here are a few pretty things I picked up from the Rosanna sale last Saturday! They sit happily on my windowsill today :)

Pretty new glasses from Rosanna and a paperweight that says dreamy!!

Design Crush : Mathew Patrick Smyth

There are times when you are flipping through a design magazine and you glace at an image. You admire the style, smile and move on. Then there are times when you are bowled over and gaze at the image for ever and ever. Today, I had was one of those moment while browsing through the latest Elle Decor :)

The designer Mathew Patrick Smyth has very effectively used this larger than life image of an Indian lady while designing an apartment in Manhattan. The image that hangs on the wall is a photograph by Peter Margonelli. I love what the photographer has done with this image. The lovely lady from a bygone era adds the right amount of drama to this space :) Don't you think??
I am particularly attracted to this image because of my own fascination with black and white images. I have spent many years searching for pictures of my ancestors in my parents home. I have found frayed yet beautiful images of men and women in my family dressed up in traditional attire. I have a wall in my loft dedicated to family pictures that date back to the early 19th century. I can tell you that some of the images displayed on my wall very closely resemble this image :)
My wall of course is a collage of images. However, today I cannot look away from this larger than life image. I can see myself wanting to do something similar someday :) I am sure creating a photo work like this is no easy feat but then once I get an idea in my head......I have a hard time letting go :)

Here's wishing you a great week ahead. Have you had a design crush lately? Do share them with you, I would love to know :)
