Stories to Share Part 1

It was a while back when I introduced a new series on My Dream Canvas called Stories to Share. Today, I am delighted to share the first story :) For those who are not aware of what this series is about.....here's a recap.

In every home there is something that is unique to you and your life. That memory, that special souvenir from a trip somewhere, a little trinket from a flea market or an antique store, an elegant curio from a store you love or an heirloom that has been passed down generations. Look around you..........there must be something that you own that has a story that goes with it. I would love to know about it :) Your story will be featured on my new series "Stories to Share". I firmly believe that these are the things that make your home uniquely you. Click a picture and send me your story.

It can be anything......pebbles/ shells from the beach........a leaf hidden inside your favorite book.......a cherished post card, an heirloom..............a photograph......whatever you like :) Don't keep such things tucked away in your drawer. They need a special space in your home.......bring them out, find a place for it and tell your story :)

This first story is being shared by Reshma Sharma, one of MDC's readers based in India. Reshma is an incredibly talented lady and after my numerous interactions with her, I can tell you that she is a wonderful person as well :)

Here's Reshma's story in her own words " Most of us love hoarding and collecting things that have a special meaning to us. Today, I am here to share a very special notebook with some wonderful recipes in it. This notebook has a very special place in my heart. When I got married, I asked my mom to give me all her wonderful recipes that  made our meals a delightful experience. Some recipes were my Dadi's (my paternal grandmother) and some were my mom's creations. I knew that I had married a foodie and I HAD to be good at cooking. Not that he asked me but it was something I wanted to be :)

Here's a picture of the cherished notebook that holds in it hundreds of recipes. Some of the recipes are really old so they are very valuable. These recipes hold a tradition that has been passed down generations. Hopefully one day I can do the same and pass on this wonderful book of treasures to my daughter :)

Here's Reshma's little book of fond memories....

What a lovely keepsake don't you think? Reshma has recently created a page of Facebook to share her creative ideas and her beautiful home. Click here to visit.

I hope you have enjoyed the first chapter of Stories to Share? I would love to hear your story:)  Please email me at anuseattle@gmail.com.
