A Treasure From the Oregon Coast In My Home

When I come across a treasure at a place where I least expect to find one, it becomes even more exciting :) Do you feel that way too? I made a quick trip to the Oregon coast in December. The picturesque beach towns were the perfect places for strolling. It was cold and windy. However, I could not resist the allure of the interesting stores in Newport, Oregon.

A quest for a cup of coffee led me to a store called Jovi in the center of the historic area of Nye Beach. I had no idea what was inside but an interesting statue outside the store piqued my curiosity :) The coffee shop was right next door, but all was forgotten :) Jovi was a store crammed with accessories and artifacts from around the world. There were beautiful linens, jewelery, furniture, and so much more. I do wish that I had pictures of the store to share with you all. Perhaps, I need to plan a trip back just to get some pictures for you all :)

From the minute I walked into the store, my eyes were fixated on this beautifully carved statue from Cambodia. I loved the serene expression and the intricate carving. The owner of the store told me that they travel a lot and collect artifacts from different parts of the world. She had recently returned from Bali where she had spent some time taking dance lessons. Fascinating life in my opinion!!

This statue is made of stone and extremely heavy. While Cambodia is definitely on my list of places to visit, bringing back a statue like this will not be an easy task :)  I know I am rambling, but I am thrilled with my statue from the beach.

Owning a store on the beach filled with curiosities from around the world, would be a dream come true for me! I would combine the store with a book shop and a cafe and I would be set for life :)

Fabulous Finds " VARNAM's Limited Edition Lamps"

It is time again for this weeks Fabulous Finds on MDC :) I have admired the collection at Varnam for some time now and I am happy to share it with you today :)

 VARNAM means color and is an ode to colourful India. This is a social enterprise that works with artisans in South India to revive traditional crafts.  Visit VARNAM to know more about their philosophy and their collection.

I just spotted these limited edition table lamps on their Facebook page. The table lamps are part of the 'south meets east' collection. Their famed pickle - jar lamp bases have been paired with hand woven textiles from the North East.

A Chic Kitchen in Notting Hill

Hello to the new week and a warm welcome back :) I spend a lot of time in my kitchen at home. Lately, I have been thinking about how to make it cheerful and more about me :) Not an easy task I might add! My kitchen is nothing special, but this year I hope to make some improvements to the overall look! Not a major renovation as that would be too expensive. However, I do plan to add a few small details here and there to make me happy :)

Given that kitchens have been on my mind, I could not resist sharing this very chic and eclectic kitchen space with you :) This is kitchen in an apartment in the Notting Hill neighborhood of London. (remember the delightful movie Notting Hill , the movie was set in the same area) This is the home of a designer. The apartment has a little bit of everything. The decor is an amalgamation of various styles that makes you sit up and notice :)

I think its very chic but maybe too pretty to be a kitchen :) What do you think? I love the look though......very bold and beautiful!!
