Blogging is a wonderful concept. My thoughts are running wild and I am so eager to write them down. Life is a journey and perhaps in the years to come these thoughts and images will bring those memories back to life. I am reminded of something my Grandfather said before he passed away at the age of ninety nine. Hedge it as we may, and avoid facing it, the fact remains that we have no FUTURE- not really ! We have a PRESENT, certainly, but it is limited and centered round a few people and a few things. The PAST is our field and covers the entire span of our lives. That is where the thoughts wander. Meandering up and down memory lane covering thousands of miles in terms of space and many years in terms of time.

Spring is in the air. I am so looking forward to the cherry blossoms in Seattle. Last year was spectacular. I love flowers, they are so bright and cheerful and they always make me smile.

My Inspiration
This morning I woke up feeling excited about the day ahead. My mind is full of thoughts about my Grandmother. A lady who is an insipiration for me or for that matter anyone who aspires to write. Born in 1916 her education was through tutors ( An English governess) and teachers in her own home. She began writing in 1952 and her works were published both in India and abroad. This included the International Who's who in poetry ( Cambridge ) and the World Poetry Society Intercontinental.

Give Me Space
Here's an excerpt from her poem " Give Me Space " which I think is brilliant :
Give me Space...to breathe
Space to lift up the skies and robe myself
In clouds and ride the winds of heaven
Down paths untrodden, forgotten, perhaps
Unremembered all this while
Give me space..space not just to exist
But live, think, crumble all the icy pinnacles
And melt the petrified forests of static thoughts
Welded into words..no knowledge , unwise.
A poem by Monica Varma
