Home Tour (A Collector's Haven)

I am happy to bring back my favorite series on MDC......."Home Tours". Moushumi Palits's home in London is a collectors haven! When Moushumi sent me a few pictures of her home for the Stories to Share series, I had to ask her to send me more :) Here is a little bit about about Moushumi in her own words. " I love decorating and am also a junk collector who loves to bring back little memories from each of my travels".

Moushumi is also a fellow blogger and blog at Rainbows and Cloudbursts. Make sure you check out her lovely site. A mother of twins, a decor enthusiast and an avid photographer.......she is a gal after my own heart!!

Welcome to Moushumi's eclectic abode in London. My favorite picture from her house is this close up of her antique Tibetan apothecary cabinet........

A shot of her living room. Here is a full view of the cabinet above. This cabinet is one of her most precious possessions. The wooden Buddha is from Thailand and the chairs are called Emperor chairs and are from China........

Another of my favorite shots of Moushumi's home. A framed hand woven tapestry from one of the islands of the Indonesian archipelago and a kilim from Turkey on the floor gives this space a colourful and vibrant look.........

What a lovely idea!!!

The dining table itself is an old door that she got cut into a table. The table has a rough and rustic surface that adds to the charm. The lady who sold her the table added 4 wooden flowers on the edges to soften the rustic look.

It really is a stunning table...............

A picture of her beautiful bench made of teak. Moushumi found this quite by  accident while driving through a narrow lane in Jakarta. There is an amusing story that goes with it :) She found the bench coated in dust and the shopkeeper was using it to take his afternoon siesta. Moushumi says that she was determined to have it . She bargained for the first time in her life and finally brought it home........

Her story sounds very similar to what happened to me in Bali :)

An usual find from Indonesia........a beautiful diya......

Her favorite corner in her kitchen area where she unwinds during the day........

I hope you have enjoyed visiting Moushumi's home. I had a hard time picking only eight images from the collection of photographs she sent me. Every inch of her home looks well loved and you can clearly feel her passion for decorating.

Thank you Moushumi for sharing your home with the readers of MDC. Please leave your comments for Moushumi and I will make sure she gets to see them and answers any questions you might have.
