Today I have a simple question for all my blogger friends, lovely readers and fellow decor enthusiasts :) In your decorating journey do you ever succumb to visual clutter? Let me explain this further! I am not talking about excess stuff in the home, junk etc....that's a whole other story :) I am referring to "decorating in excess"......where your home is filled to the brim with curios, artifacts, patterns and colors!
While patterns and colors can be energizing and creative, too much of it hurts my eye. By this, I don't mean that one should be minimalistic or use soothing color palettes. For me it means striking the right balance when you chose patterns and colors for your space. I need to feel rested when I walk into my home! Too many patterns just exhaust me and my eyes :)
While everyone has a different personal style, I want to know how do you reduce visual clutter in your home? Some magazines and blogs showcase rooms where the space looks fabulous! ! However when you look closely, can you see yourself relaxing in that space? Beautiful throws and fabrics in myriad patterns adorn every piece of furniture, its dreamy alright but is it practical and calming?
I for one, am constantly trying to achieve the right balance. The desire to create a calm and peaceful home is the driving force behind my decorating style! I am not sure if I am there yet, but for now I am happy the way things are :)
Can you achieve both? A home filled with things you love, and and a visually calming and peaceful home? I would love to hear your take on this? Everyone's decorating rules are different, and I am not talking about attaining perfection either. However, exchanging ideas and thoughts is fun, don't you think?
